Year 12

Year 12

The Extended Essays (EE) for IB and the HSC English Orals have now been completed. The girls are to be congratulated on their efforts with the EE, a key component of the IB Diploma and a milestone of Year 12. The girls have worked with their supervisors for a year to develop individual research projects on specific areas of interest. It has been great to see Year 12 support each other through the HSC oral task, hearing their presentations and offering suggestions during study periods.

Careers presentations continue this week with our alumni series, which has been organised for Year 12 by Jo Cilia, our Head of Careers and Pathways. The focus was on our Old Girls working in Business, Commerce and Law – details are below:

The program continues in Week 9 and next term. Please ask your daughter about the presentations and we hope they find them inspiring and interesting.

Principal Lisa Moloney and Head of Senior School Joanna Graffen spoke on Tuesday to Year 12 about Study Camp and the various offerings available during the July break. Subject specific workshops are being planned by Heads of Faculty and teachers – more information is available from your daughter’s subject teacher. More details are to come in a separate flyer to help support families in their planning for Study Camp during the first week. Practice exams will be available for students to complete in Potts Hall under exam conditions and the library will be open for private study. Students are not expected to wear school uniform but must sign in and out with the Studies Office. The canteen will not be open so students will have to make their own arrangements for lunch and recess.

The captains have been busy planning events such as Iluminate, Round Square Week, the environment initiative and a special MLC School event, the Prescott Puppy Pageant. All of the captains attended the Prefect Afternoon Tea on Wednesday afternoon and Marirose Giann has coordinated her team to host this important event at MLC School.

If you have any questions about your daughter’s academic progress, please contact the relevant subject teacher. For pastoral and wellbeing concerns, your daughter’s luminary and I are available to discuss any issues you may have.
