Welcome back to a New Year of Music!

Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday season and our students have had a great first week back.

This year promises to be filled with exciting musical opportunities and experiences. We have a variety of programs and events planned that will allow our students to explore their musical talents and grow as young musicians. From our Sydney Opera House concert and recitals to workshops and special guest Masterclasses, Music Camp and our 2025 European Music Tour, there is much to look forward to.

Please find below a summary of our 2025 Music Co-curricular Program rehearsal schedule. We have hit the ground running, and our ensembles have jumped right into rehearsing repertoire for our Opera House concert. Senior ensembles started back this week and Junior ensembles begin next week. If your daughter did not have the chance to sign up this week, please ensure she attends the ensembles next week to register herself with a staff member.

For you to stay up to date with all things music, it is imperative you log into Omnia and the app, and update all your Music tag subscriptions. Please ensure you unsubscribe from ensembles your daughters will no longer be involved in, and tag all ensembles that your daughters will be partaking in this year. There is already a tag for our European Music tour, and we will be setting up new tags as required for individual events such as Groove at Camelot down the track. Omnia will be our main port of communication so if you have not subscribed to the individual tags, you will miss out on important music information relating to your children and relevant ensemble practices will not appear in your App Calendar.

We are still in the process of finalising new private tuition enrolments and allocating students to tutors as part of our Private Music Tuition program with most tutors starting back in Week 2 (starting Monday 3 February 2025). Tutors will contact you directly with details of start dates. If you have any issues around private tuition enrolments, please email music@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au.

We look forward to welcoming our new Year 3 Band and Year 1 String students to our wonderful Hit the Ground workshop this Saturday 1 February 2025. If you haven’t had a chance yet, please ensure you provide approval via Omnia.
