Operation Art 2024 Exhibition
Each year, schools across New South Wales are invited to participate in Operation Art, an initiative of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in association with the New South Wales Department of Education. The Operation Art program provides a forum for schools and students to demonstrate their Visual Arts achievements through exhibitions in galleries across NSW in 2025. Thousands of visitors will view these exhibitions, which comprises of over 800 works of art. 50 of these artworks have been selected to become part of the permanent collection at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The display of cheerful and uplifting artworks in the hospital has positive health benefits for children and their families during hospitalisation. It certainly is a worthwhile initiative.
This year, two of our MLC School artists are showcasing their artworks. Congratulations to Grace Luo (Year 2) and Avni Narang (Year 4). You can see their artworks and artist statements below.

‘My artwork is inspired by John Olsen. One frog is sleeping and the other is jumping in the water. I made it by monoprinting, relief printing and drawing with ink.”
– Grace Luo (Year 2)

“This flower symbolises my grandparents’ garden. I made it because they are special to me. I wet felted wool rovings and string.”
– Avni Narang (Year 4)
