Middle Years Drama Company Represents at 2021 State Shakespeare Carnival

The State Shakespeare Carnival run by Sport for Jove was held at the Seymour Centre last weekend. MLC School was the only school across NSW and the ACT who made it into three sections which is an amazing achievement. The students who won our School Shakespeare Carnival went on to perform in the Regional Shakespeare Carnival in four sections. Three out of four groups were chosen to represent MLC School in the State Shakespeare Carnival.

On Saturday 5 June 2021, students enjoyed a day of Shakespeare workshops run by highly experienced Sport for Jove tutors which was a part of their prize for making it to the State finals. Students, friends and families enjoyed the performances on Sunday 6 June 2021. It was great to see our Regional finalists and other members of MLC School’s Middle Years Drama Company come along to support their friends. The standard of performances was exceptional and the judges had very difficult decisions to make.

We are so excited to announce that Samantha Brady (Year 9) and Anna Sulan (Year 8) came 3rd in the duologues section! Congratulations to Anna and Sam and all of our Middle Years Drama Company finalists on their outstanding achievement.

It was such an amazing experience for the girls, not only to learn so much about the world that is Shakespeare, but to meet students from other schools and appreciate each other’s amazing performances. What struck me most was the way in which each school supported each other with claps and cheers and the sense of community and appreciation for each other was infectious. The girls are looking forward to the 2022 Shakespeare Carnival!
