MLC School Strikes a Chord

Strike A Chord is national chamber competition for secondary school students run by Musica Viva. MLC School has enjoyed numerous collaborations with Musica Viva which is the flagship organisation in Australia that promotes and operates concerts devoted to chamber music.

This year, MLC School had seven entries in the competition. This map shows how many ensembles entered the event.

In the past week, the first-round results of the competition have been finalised and our MLC School ensembles have been successful in achieving excellent results:

  • Bronze Award – The Four Mozart-rella SticksNichole Wang (Year 10), Hannah Kang (Year 10), Christine Jin (Year 8), Angela Lai (Year 8)
  • Bronze Award – The MLC Bass Quintet Fiona Feng (Year 9), Ruby Scott-Wishart (Year 11), Coco Huang (Year 11), Jade di Girolamo (Year 11), Wisteria Hu (Year 11)
  • Strike A Chord Strings Prize $200/Reserve semi-finalists – Tetivo TrioDaisy Li (Year 9), Tasha Wong (Year 8), Juah Hyun (Year 7)
  • Strike A Chord Keyboard Prize $200 – MLC 40 Fingers Piano Ensemble Wisteria Hu (Year 11), Isabelle Lin (Year 9), Angela Lai (Year 8), Christine Jin (Year 8)
  • Strike A Chord Mixed Ensemble Prize $200 – MLC Senior Trio Jacqueline Flett (Year 11), Jade di Girolamo (Year 11), Cynthia Hu (Year 12):
  • Strike A Chord Vocal Prize ($200) and Strike A Chord Spirit of Chamber Music Prize $200 – MLC School Vocal Consort Ellery Joyce (Year 12), Sofia Carey (Year 12), Tianka Parapuram (Year 12), Emma Corcoran (Year 12), Sabine Saad (Year 12), Ana Trigg (Year 12)
  • Semifinalists and Eligible for either Silver or Gold Award and prize money up to the value of $5000 – Bartholdy Trio Fiona Feng (Year 9), Justine Zhang (Year 8), Vincent Zhu (Conservatorium High School)
