{"id":3354,"date":"2023-04-13T04:08:10","date_gmt":"2023-04-13T04:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mlc-oldgirls\/?post_type=article&#038;p=3354"},"modified":"2023-04-13T04:08:17","modified_gmt":"2023-04-13T04:08:17","slug":"mlc-school-old-girls-perform-in-encore-concert-at-the-sydney-opera-house","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mlc-oldgirls\/article\/mlc-school-old-girls-perform-in-encore-concert-at-the-sydney-opera-house\/","title":{"rendered":"MLC School Old Girls perform in Encore Concert at the Sydney Opera House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) holds a gala concert in the Sydney Opera House each year to highlight outstanding HSC performers and composers.<\/p>\n<p>It is a tremendous honour to be nominated for the encore concert as only the top performing students from around the state will be awarded a nomination.<\/p>\n<p>A huge congratulations goes to the following students from our 2022 Year 12 HSC cohort.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jade Di Girolamo <\/strong>(2022) \u2013 Performance, \u2018Gothic Carousel\u2019<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ruby Scott-Wishart<\/strong> (2022) \u2013 Composition, \u2018Soliloquy for Winter Solstice\u2019<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jacqueline Flett<\/strong> (2022) \u2013 Music Composition<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jacqueline Flett<\/strong> (2022) \u2013 Music Performance<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emma Mahant<\/strong> (2022) \u2013 Music Composition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;letter-spacing: 0px\">Of these nominees, two were selected to perform in the Sydney Opera House Encore Concert.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For MLC School to have two students selected to showcase their work in the actual concert is somewhat of a coup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ruby Scott-Wishart<\/strong>&#8216;s composition was a piece written for acapella choir based on a poem published by her grandmother from a collection of over 40 years of poetry. This was performed on the evening by the MLC School Chamber Choir.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jade Di Girolamo<\/strong> was also selected for her performance of Gothic Carousel; a piece composed especially for the MLC School Piano Quartet by MLC School Head of Composition <strong>Tristan Coelho.<\/strong> The other members of the Piano Quartet performing with Jade were &#8211; <strong>Wisteria Hu <\/strong>(2022)<strong>, Ruby Scott-Wishart <\/strong>(2022) and <strong>Coco Huang <\/strong>(2022)<strong>.<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 <em><strong>Trevor Mee<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nDirector of Music<\/p>\n<p><em>Click on image gallery for full size images.
