MLC School, Sydney

The MLC School delegation, Chair of Council and Old Girl Kylie Bryden‑Smith, Principal Lisa Moloney, Deputy Principal Melissa Boyd, and Council member Jason Koia, were honoured to represent MLC School at the Queen Salote College Centenary celebrations in Tonga, a nationally significant occasion marked by a public holiday.

Over four days of celebrations, the delegation was welcomed as special guests, including an official reception at the High Commissioner’s Residence hosted by His Excellency Brek Batley. Chair of Council Kylie Bryden‑Smith was seated at the Prime Minister of Tonga’s table, reflecting the depth of respect for the enduring partnership between MLC School and Queen Salote College. Principal Lisa Moloney gave an address and Council member Jason Koia also played a key role, delivering the closing remarks.

MLC School is proud to partner with Queen Salote College through a shared commitment to girls’ education, leadership and opportunity across the Pacific. The partnership strengthens learning opportunities for girls through long‑term, respectful collaboration, with a shared focus on professional learning, curriculum development and mentoring.

During the visit, MLC School parent Catherine Loy was recognised for establishing the Jeanette Loy Fellowship, honouring her mother, Jeanette Loy (MLC School 1960), a former Headmistress of Queen Salote College and long‑serving MLC School educator. The fellowship will support an annual reciprocal teacher exchange, further strengthening professional learning between the two schools.

As MLC School celebrates 140 years of excellence in girls’ education, this enduring partnership reminds us that shared purpose transcends borders and generations.
