{"id":5227,"date":"2026-03-06T13:29:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T02:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mce\/?post_type=article&#038;p=5227"},"modified":"2026-03-17T13:19:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T02:19:08","slug":"harmony-week","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mce\/article\/harmony-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Harmony Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>6 March 2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dear Parents\/Carers,<\/p>\n<p>We are pleased to inform you that our students will be participating in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harmony.gov.au\/\"><strong>Harmony Week<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> a national celebration that recognises Australia\u2019s cultural diversity and promotes inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Harmony Week will take place at the College in <strong>Week 9 &#8211; 23-27 March<em>,<\/em><\/strong> and throughout the week students will engage in a range of activities in Homeroom designed to celebrate the many cultures and backgrounds within our school community. The message we want our students to understand is that <em>everyone belongs<\/em>. It\u2019s important to recognise that sometimes behaviour intended as \u2018banter\u2019 can still hurt others. When this happens, the intention doesn&#8217;t matter \u2014 what matters is how the words or actions are received.<\/p>\n<p>As part of our Harmony Week celebrations, we invite students to wear<strong> mufti clothing along with a sport jersey that reflects their cultural heritage, or they may choose to wear a touch of <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">orange<\/span> on Friday, 27 March.<\/strong> Orange is the official colour of Harmony Week and represents communication, meaningful conversations, and mutual respect. As always with mufti day events, students are to wear <strong>fully closed shoes,<\/strong> no slides\/thongs\/crocs are to be worn.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to wearing mufti, <strong>we are encouraging students to bring a gold coin donation for Project Compassion.<\/strong> Donations will be collected during Flag Raising.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage families to talk with their children about the importance of inclusivity, kindness, and celebrating differences.
