Year 10 – Year 11 2027 Subject Selection & Mentor Meetings

19 June 2026

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 10 Students

Year 11 2027 Subject Preferences and Mentor Meetings

As part of our preparation for students’ transition into Stage 6, each Year 10 student will participate in a Subject Selection Mentor Meeting to discuss their preliminary subject preferences  for Year 11. These individual meetings provide an opportunity for students to reflect on their academic goals, review subject prerequisites and receive tailored guidance regarding their proposed pattern of study.

The meetings will take place during the school day, with the majority scheduled for Tuesday 23 June and Wednesday 24 June.

Students will be allocated a specific meeting time and mentor and are responsible for attending their scheduled meeting. Meeting times and mentor allocations will be published via a Compass Newsfeed prior to the commencement of the meetings.

Following the meeting, families will receive an email summary outlining the discussion, including the student’s proposed subject preferences and any recommendations or considerations arising from the meeting. We encourage you to discuss this summary with your son as considerations for his final subject selection occur.

Please note that the Edval online subject selection portal will open on Thursday 23 July 2026. More information about this process will be communicated at the beginning of Term 3.

We encourage families to use the information provided during the Mentor Meeting process as a basis for these discussions and decisions.

Should you have any questions following the Mentor Meeting process, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

 Ms Monique Brame
Director of Curriculum and NESA Accreditation

Dear Parents/Carers

Year 7-9 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

The Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences for students in Years 7 to 9 will be held on Wednesday 1 July and Friday 3 July. Wednesday evening is scheduled from 3:15pm to 7:00pm and will be face-to-face meetings to accommodate those who work and Friday will take place from 9.00am to 3.30pm online. Friday is a pupil free day for all students.

Students are requested to attend with their parents as valuable feedback on their learning will be provided and their progress will be discussed. Students and parents can also use this time to ask questions, share information and receive advice about their learning.

An important part of learning at Marist College Eastwood is feedback that will inform students on how well they are progressing with their learning goals. Often this will afford an opportunity for affirmation of your son’s efforts so far.

Optimal learning performances will be achieved by students who:

  • Reflect critically on their learning goals and lead the discussion on strategies to enhance their learning.
  • Seek feedback from their teachers on ways to improve their achievement in all future assessment tasks.
  • Attend all scheduled classes and engage with the class work in every lesson.
  • Complete all assigned class work and homework and seek feedback on the quality of the work.
  • Ensure that time is spent each day on exercise and relaxation, or stress-reducing activities.

All Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be booked via Compass. The Compass portal will be open to make bookings on Monday 22 June at 8.00am and closes Monday 29 June at 8:00am. To book conferences please login to Compass, select the Community tab (2 heads) and then select Conferences.  Attached to this letter are instructions on using Compass to book conference times.

Reminder – Year 12 – HSC Trial Timetable & Instructions

29 May 2026

Dear Year 12 Parents/Carers

Year 12 HSC Trial Timetable

As we approach the latter half of Term 2, we enter a crucial phase in the academic journey of our Year 12 students. This period marks an important opportunity for students, families and staff to start working collaboratively in preparation for the upcoming HSC Trial Examinations.

Attached to this communication, you will find the official timetable for the HSC Trial Examinations, along with detailed instructions regarding exam procedures. We ask that students take the time to carefully review these documents and ensure they are familiar with the College’s Assessment Procedures. Adherence to these guidelines is vital to maintaining the integrity and smooth operation of the examination period.

Term 3 and the Trial HSC Examinations represent a pivotal stage in the HSC year. It is essential that students approach this time with focus, discipline and a commitment to consistent study. We strongly encourage students to establish realistic and effective study routines over the remainder of the terms as well as the holiday break, incorporating regular revision and practice to build confidence and competence in each subject area. The College will be running classes during the July holidays. A timetable of these offerings will be published closer to the holiday period.

We sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your son’s education. Together, we can help ensure that each student is well-prepared and positioned for success in the final stages of their Higher School Certificate.

Kind regards

Ms Monique Brame
