Letter from the Principal

5 September 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

This morning we joined as a school community to celebrate our fathers and father figures.  Many people worked together to enable this to happen and so we thank:

  • Fr Dan, our altar servers Isaiah Mahalingam, Daniel Jose, Elijah Azzi, Jayden Elkorr and Matthew Sun, Oliver Carr and Jeremy Azzi, for our beautiful mass. Our readers Michael Ajaka, Jacob Azzi, Lincoln Bird, Matthew Wong and Thomas Cooper.
  • Evangelisation Team- Mr McCaughan, Ms Matti, Ms Ahlgren and Ms Matthews for the Mass preparation and setup.
  • Mr Dela Cruz, Ms Muller, Mrs Doucet, and our student musicians for the amazing music.
  • William Byrne for his father’s day reflection.
  • Our talented Entertainment student, Zac Scoullar, for the video presentation.
  • My PA, Mrs Kelly Alcuri, Mr Flavio Sordoni and the Support Staff for the breakfast we all enjoyed.

As we celebrate Father’s Day, we take a moment to honour the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who guide, support, and inspire us. Their quiet strength, enduring love, and everyday sacrifices shape the lives of those around them in profound ways.

We especially hold in our hearts those fathers who are no longer with us. Their legacy lives on in the values they instilled and the memories we cherish.

A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.” – Author Unknown

May this Father’s Day be a time of gratitude and connection, as we acknowledge the important role these men play in our families and communities.

Warm wishes to all the fathers in our Marist family.

Happy Father’s Day!

Dear Parents/Carers & Student Representatives

Reminder – Letter from the Director of Wellbeing

29 August 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

As part of our commitment to fostering a supportive and caring school community, the College will be having a mufti day on Friday 12 September 2025 (T3, W8) in support of R U OK? DAY. The students are further encouraged to wear some yellow on the day to further demonstrate visible support for the day. The students will also participate in a range of activities across the week during homeroom.

R U OK? Day is a harm prevention initiative that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives.  R U OK Day is about encouraging people to invest time in personal relationships and building the capacity of support networks. By participating in this day, our students will learn valuable skills in empathy, active listening and the importance of mental health. We believe that coming together as a community, in this simple way, we can make an impact on the well-being of our students and continue to build a culture of care and support

Why Wear Yellow?

Yellow is the official colour of R U OK? Day, symbolising hope, positivity and the power of conversation. By wearing yellow, our students will visually demonstrate their support for mental health awareness and their commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable to ask, “Are you okay?”

In recognising the importance of mental health and checking in on one another, we also consider the people who support those on the margins of our society and check if they are OK. To this end we are asking students to make a gold coin donation to The Charitable Works Fund (CWF) on the day. The CWF supports the charitable and pastoral works of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. These include; mental health support services for families and those struggling with addictions, homeless support services and chaplaincies for hospitals and prisons. Through this support we are extending the message of R U OK beyond our local school context to those in most need across our wider community.

In addition to this there will also be R U OK wristbands and lanyards for sale to the students, should you wish to purchase them. Proceeds from these sales will go to St Vincent De Paul.

On the day, students are expected to:

  • Ensure they have all their required equipment for the day.
  • This includes appropriate footwear for the kitchens, woodwork rooms and PDHPE lessons
  • Wear mufti, including a splash of yellow, ensuring that it is appropriate for the occasion, including:
  • Safe closed in shoes (no thongs)
  • No derogatory slogans or pictures
  • Ensure all other rules regarding attire such as hair, grooming and piercings  are adhered to

Thank you for your support of this important initiative.

Kind regards

Ms Linda Codamo                                                      Mr Colm McCaughan

Director of Wellbeing                                               Religious Education Coordinator
