Letter from the Principal

22 August 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope this message finds you well as we move through a busy and exciting Term 3 at Marist College Eastwood.

We are delighted to share the joyful news that our Assistant Principal, Mr Daniel Fallico, has welcomed a beautiful baby boy into his family — Noah Jude Fallico. We extend our warmest congratulations to Mr Fallico and his family on this wonderful occasion. As Mr Fallico takes parental leave for the remainder of the term, Mr Tim Aussel will be stepping into the role of Acting Assistant Principal. We thank Mr Aussel for his leadership and support during this time.

Our Year 12 students have recently completed their Trial HSC examinations and are now entering the final phase of preparation for their HSC exams. They continue to be supported by our dedicated staff and a team of alumni tutors who are generously giving their time to assist our students. We are incredibly proud of the commitment and resilience our Year 12s have shown, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements at their Graduation Ceremony at the end of the term — a milestone event for our community.

Meanwhile, our Year 11 students have begun preparing for their Preliminary End-of-Course examinations beginning next week. This is an important time in their academic journey, and we keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they work towards their goals.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and staff.

Kind regards

Ms Silvana Rossetti

Dear Parents/Carers & Student Representatives

College Sport Photos for 2025 will be taken on Monday 8 September in the Montagne Centre. The photography session will begin promptly at 8.30am.

Students who have represented the College in Sport, Chess, Eisteddfod and/or Debating are asked to come to school in full College Sports uniform including tracksuit jacket, tracksuit pants and the College sports polo.  Shorts are not to be worn on this day. Students are expected to be well-groomed as per the College policy and any student not wearing the correct uniform and/or shorts will not be photographed on this day.  It is important to note that there may be disruptions to normal lessons to accommodate team photographs. A schedule will be provided in advance next week, detailing the time allocations for each team.

Sport Report

We are hopeful that next week will bring improved weather, allowing our students to participate in representative and local sports.

Conference 2 Athletics Carnival

This year was faced with the challenges of consistent downpour which resulted in SCS to make necessary adjustments to the carnival format. As a result, only track events were held and field events postponed through a nomination process to take place at the Sydney Championships Carnival.

Tuesday 19 August Marist College Eastwood sent out a 37 Athletic Squad to compete in the track events at Conference 2 Athletics Carnival.

Highlights of the day include the 15 boys 400m event where Oliver Brown had almost a 15m commanding lead to cross the line in first place. A stunning trifecta finish for our 17+ boys 100m dash where Jacob Hasrouni, Daniel Srour and Ashton Sawtell finished first, second and third place. Manuel Lacson was unstoppable achieving gold medals in both the 100m and 200m events as well as Julian Smith in 1500m and 800m.

Congratulations to the track squad for progressing to the next stage at Sydney Athletics Championships in their track events scheduled Friday 29 August.

Illness & Misadventure Application Process

20 June 2025

Dear Parents/Carers of Years 7–12 Students,

Illness and Misadventure Application Process

As per our previous communication, we have made the process for the Illness and Misadventure Application more accessible and efficient as it is now available via the online form. This applies to any student in Years 7–12 who is unable to complete or submit an assessment task on time due to illness, misadventure or other approved circumstances.

To assist with navigating these procedures, we have developed a clear question and answer style Assessment Procedures Guide for Years 7–12. This one-page resource outlines common scenarios, what action is required and the consequences of not following the process. We encourage all families to review this document to ensure they are familiar with the expectations around assessment tasks.

Key information to remember;

  • If a student is absent or unable to submit or complete an assessment task, an Assessment Illness/Misadventure Form must be submitted by a parent or carer using the online form.
  • Documentation must be submitted when completing this form:
    • Years 7–8: A signed parent/carer note is required.
    • Years 9–12: A Doctor’s Certificate or official documentation must be submitted.
  • The form must be submitted within five school days of the task due date.
  • Students must be prepared to submit or sit the task on their first day back unless advised otherwise.

We thank you for your support in ensuring that all students are given a fair and consistent opportunity to complete their assessments. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Ms Monique Brame
Director of Curriculum and NESA Accreditation

Year 11 – Examination Timetable

8 August 2025

Dear Year 11 Parents/Carers

As we approach the Year 11 Final Examination block, commencing in Week 6 of Term 3, students enter a significant stage of their academic journey. These examinations provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate the depth of their learning and reflect their readiness for the transition into their HSC year in Term 4.

Attached to this communication is the Year 11 Examination Timetable, along with key information regarding examination procedures and expectations. We ask that both parents and students review these documents thoroughly to ensure familiarity with the College’s assessment policies. Adherence to these guidelines is essential for maintaining the integrity and smooth operation of the examination period. Please also note that Year 11 students will be given exam privileges and thus, are only required to be on school grounds for scheduled exams. However, this privilege can be revoked if behaviour and application are not to the high standards expected of a senior Marist Eastwood student.

This assessment phase allows students to consolidate their knowledge and conclude Year 11 with confidence. We encourage the development of consistent and realistic study habits in the lead-up to the examinations, including targeted revision, practice tasks, and subject-specific goal setting.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your son’s education. With focused preparation and commitment, students will be well-equipped to approach these final assessments and begin their HSC year with purpose and confidence.

Kind regards

Ms Monique Brame
