The year 8 French classes have been participating in a range of exciting activities to help supplement their learning. At the end of term 2, 8I and \ud83d\ude2f competed in a class vs class match of <\/span>disco foot<\/span><\/i>, a \u201csport\u201d originally created by the Ballet de Lorraine in Nancy, France that combines the rules of football with the imperative to dance. Each team tries to score goals with the silver disco ball but every player must be dancing at all times. The teams receive points for goals scored but were also scored out of 10 for creativity and artistic ability by our guest judges Madame Reynolds and Madame Catalan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before playing, each team was taught some essential French football chants, which they were also encouraged to replicate on the field to support their team. While the dancing was initially underwhelming, in the second half \ud83d\ude2f brought out some stylish moves and won the game! All participants were also invited to play \u201ctoss the beret\u201d during half time, which saw some very impressive athletic abilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the excitement of all this sport, the classes finished the term with the annual French Breakfast, sampling a range of delicious croissants, baguettes, eclairs and cheeses while drinking 10 litres of hot chocolate. Many students were heard exclaiming \u201cmiam miam!\u201d as they bravely tasted roquefort and ch\u00e8vre for the first time.<\/span><\/p>\n
