{"id":8496,"date":"2025-11-28T03:06:49","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T03:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/fortstreet\/?post_type=article&#038;p=8496"},"modified":"2025-11-28T03:06:49","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T03:06:49","slug":"principals-report-129","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/fortstreet\/article\/principals-report-129\/","title":{"rendered":"Principal&#8217;s Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Fortians, Parents and Carers,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Week 1 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All students 7-12 return to school on Monday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> February.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the second day of school will be our swimming carnival Tuesday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> February held at Ashfield Swimming Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Year 11 will also head off to Camp at Narrabeen Sports Academy in the first week of school form Wednesday 4<sup>th<\/sup> to Friday 6<sup>th<\/sup> February.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Congratulations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clara M from Year 11 deserves to be recognised on her most recent outstanding musical achievements. Clara performed in the prestigious John Curro National Youth Concerto Competition Finals in Brisbane on October 12th. In addition, she has been accepted into the flagship Australian Youth Orchestra (ages 14-26), and will be touring Australia in 2026 for both the summer and winter seasons. Most impressively, her String Quartet toured Victoria as part of a mentorship prize won in the 2024 Strike a Chord Competition, Australia\u2019s premier Youth Chamber Music Competition. During this tour, they were awarded a generous $5,000 grant from a donor who was inspired by their performance. We are incredibly proud of Clara\u2019s dedication and success!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-8528\" src=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2025\/11\/NOC_4360-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Kainan W from Year 10 was recently shortlisted in the Young Writers category, in the Young Creatives Awards 2025. Kainan Wang wrote a stunning work called\u00a0<em>Protocol: Grief\u00a0<\/em>in the 12-15 age category. Kainan and his family were invited to an Awards night at Marrickville Library on Friday 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0November where Kainan was presented with his certificate and was asked to sign multiple copies of the writers\u2019 anthology which is the published collection of all the shortlisted and winning short stories in each age group. The awards will be announced at the 75<sup>th<\/sup> Cherry Festival in Young on Sunday 7 December. We wish Levi the best of luck for an award.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Schools Spectacular 2025 \u2013 Remarkable!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are incredibly proud and excited to see our 33 Fortians join thousands of other talented public school students at the Schools Spectacular 2025, taking place this Friday night at Qudos Bank Arena.<\/p>\n<p>If you weren\u2019t able to secure tickets, don\u2019t worry! You can still enjoy the show as it will be broadcast on Channel 7 on\u00a0Friday, 19 December at 7:00 pm\u00a0and again on\u00a0Saturday, 20 December at 10:30 am.<\/p>\n<p>This annual event is a spectacular celebration of youth, education, culture, diversity, and the remarkable talents of young Australians. Over 5,500 students from public schools across New South Wales come together to create an unforgettable performance.<\/p>\n<p>It is a tremendous honour for our students to participate in this prestigious event. Don\u2019t miss this opportunity to celebrate their talent and hard work!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Remembrance Day and SRC Assembly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, 11 November, our school held a deeply meaningful Remembrance Day assembly to honour the sacrifices of those who have served and continue to serve our country. I extend my sincere thanks to Tony L. from Year 9 for his insightful address, to Avivi D. for reciting the Remembrance Day Ode, and to Yevin J. for her moving performance of the Last Post and Rouse.<\/p>\n<p>During this solemn occasion, we were also honoured to induct our new Student Representative Council (SRC) members for the upcoming year. The SRC members were formally presented to the school community, and it was wonderful to welcome their proud parents to share in this special milestone.<\/p>\n<p>The assembly served as a heartfelt reminder of the enduring importance of service and leadership \u2014 values that resonate strongly both in our history and within our school community today.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>House Captains Elected<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, house meetings were held to elect our House Captains for 2026. It was inspiring to see so many enthusiastic nominations from students across Years 7 to 10, eager to take on this important leadership role.<\/p>\n<p>House Captains play a vital role in fostering school spirit, organising events, and promoting a positive and inclusive culture within our school community.
