Last week, Years 10 and 11 watched the film \u201cGet Up\u201d about four young school leavers finding their way in life and following their dreams. Classes 7K and 7S are also looking forward to seeing a German remake of the story \u201cLassie&#8221; on Tuesday, 4th June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Last Thursday, 9th May, Years 9 and 12 German classes visited Palace Cinemas on Norton St for the German Film Festival. We watched \u201cDas Fliegende Klassenzimmer\u201d (The Flying Classroom), an entertaining movie about a battle between the \u2018Internen\u2019 (borders) and the \u2018Externen\u2019 (day students) at a beautiful school in the Bavarian Alps, Germany. It even included a dramatic fight scene, as well as some corny but loveable singing and class performances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The movie was based on a book written by Erich K\u00e4stner, a famous early 20th century German author, who wrote other well-known books such as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Emil and the Detectives<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lottie and Lisa<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (which became the movie the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Parent Trap<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We loved listening to the German spoken in the film, especially when we recognised words or phrases from German class, like \u201cIch habe keinen Bock\u201d, a German idiom for \u201cI don\u2019t care!\u201d.
