Years 7 and 8 sampled a <em>Bunter Teller <\/em>(colourful plate) with a range of German gingerbread, biscuits, <em>Stollen<\/em> and other treats. Years 9, 10 and 11 constructed and decorated gingerbread houses to share with their friends.<\/p>\n<p>Wishing all the Fort Street community <em>Frohe Weihnachten und sch\u00f6ne Sommerferien!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Auf Wiedersehen, Frau M\u00e4rtens!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the Goethe Institut\u00b4s <em>Schulw\u00e4rts<\/em> program, Fort Street has had a German assistant teacher since August this year. Lina M\u00e4rtens has been helping in German lessons as well as planning and teaching a number of lessons by herself. Students have enjoyed learning about a range of topics including food, music, German cities, history, birthdays and Christmas traditions. Year 11 in particular have enjoyed Frau M\u00e4rtens\u2019 \u201cIdiom of the Day\u201d, where they learnt that \u201cit\u2019s all sausage to me\u201d means that something isn\u2019t important but when \u201cit\u2019s all about the sausage\u201d, it\u2019s very important.<\/p>\n<p>Frau M\u00e4rtens is studying to be an English and Physics teacher and helped out in some of Ms Fluitsma\u00b4s science lessons too, teaching some lessons about physical forces and space.<\/p>\n<p>Frau M\u00e4rtens finishes at Fort Street this week, but will work at the Goethe Institut in Sydney early next year before returning to T\u00fcbingen to finish her degree.
