What is your role at Fort Street?<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a Social Sciences teacher, Year Advisor to Year 7. I also coordinate the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh program.<\/p>\n

What do you love about your role?<\/b><\/p>\n

I really like working with Year 7 – They are a great cohort, full of personalities, characters and fun\u2026 And they teach me a great deal about learning, what it\u2019s like to be a student and being a parent. I\u2019ve really enjoyed welcoming them into Fort Street.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I also love teaching Geography too. It\u2019s a subject which affects many aspects of people\u2019s lives and their futures. There is always something else interesting to learn about the world.<\/p>\n

What other activities are you involved in at Fort St? Eg sport groups, Duke of Ed, drama club etc<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been involved with Duke of Edinburgh since I came to Fort Street. I think the Duke of Ed program is a great opportunity for students to show commitment and growth. But I really enjoy seeing students learn outside the classroom and taking people away on hiking trips is such a valuable learning experience for young people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve also started a weeding group to help make Fort Street\u2019s native vegetation even better.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What was your favourite subject at school?<\/b><\/p>\n

When I was at school I was most interested in Modern History and Biology. Both subjects seem to explain so much about the world we see. Just after I finished high school, of my favourite books was Guns, Germs and Steel was released and I seem to join History, Biology and Geography together\u2026 I was wrapped!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is something people may not know about you?<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve travelled in 51 different countries\u2026 The photo is from Mongolia.<\/p>\n

Do you have any pets?<\/b><\/p>\n

Nope. I love cats and dogs\u2026 but have not been able to commit to owning either of them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you think pineapple belongs on a pizza?<\/b><\/p>\n
