A selection of recent student achievements…<\/p>\n

Young Creatives Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Moss Johnston (Year 12) who won the Young Writers Award for ages 16-18, and to\u00a0Isabella Evangelista (Year 9) who was selected as\u00a0runner up for ages 12-15. \u00a0The competition was run by the Inner West Council. \u00a0Winners and runners up took home $500 and $250 respectively.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Australian Schools Open Aquathon and CHS Diving<\/strong><\/p>\n

Riki<\/span> Leamon<\/span>\u00a0(Year 10) competed in the Australian Schools Open Aquathlon at Penrith Lakes earlier this year, which was part of the 2018 Australian Schools Triathlon Festival. \u00a0An aquathlon is a swim and run. \u00a0Riki<\/span> competed in the intermediate girls (ages 15 and 16), with a 300m swim followed by a 2km run. \u00a0Riki<\/span> achieved a credible 7th<\/sup> against a field full of national level runners and triathletes.<\/p>\n

Riki also recently competed in the CHS diving competition, 15 years girls springboard, at SOPAC.\u00a0 and placed 4th.\u00a0 Although she missed out on NSW All Schools by one place, her score could qualify her for Diving Australia\u2019s national age competition as an elite diver.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Schools Spectacular Featured Dancer<\/strong><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Year 10 student Max Tosello who has been chosen as a featured dancer at this year’s Schools Spectacular. \u00a0Over the years Max has placed\u00a0at many eisteddfods both as solo performer and performance troupe member and was selected\u00a0after audition for The Movement Experience III by Jason Winters in 2016. \u00a0He has been a member of NSW Public Schools Dance Ensembles and has\u00a0performed in State and Regional Dance Festivals and Schools Spectacular.<\/p>\n

This is the first time he has auditioned for Featured Dancer at Schools Spectacular.<\/p>\n

Plain English Speaking Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n

John Bivell (Year 12) recently represented the school at The Regional Finals of The Plain English Speaking Awards at the NSW DEC Arts Unit in Lewisham. The competition was\u00a0incredibly tight\u00a0and he was narrowly beaten. I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate and thank John for representing the school so well over many years, and for his generous\u00a0support and encouragement of fellow public speakers. He has spoken with panache and finesse and\u00a0made a fine contribution to public speaking in the public education system.<\/p>\n
