Year 8 German Master Chef

Year 8 German Master Chef

8R recently participated in the annual Fort Street German Master Chef competition. Students worked in small teams to research a traditional recipe from a German-speaking country and then went to work in the kitchen at home before bringing their mouth-watering creations to share with their classmates.

The amount of effort that the students put into their cooking was truly impressive and some teams even had test runs with different recipes to make sure that their entry would be perfect. The attention to detail really paid off as all the dishes were delicious and many were restaurant worthy.

Thanks to the guest judges Ms Cameron, Mr Gillespie, Mr Morrison, and Ms Vasiliadis. After all the students and teachers had cast their votes, there were some clear favourites – the chocolatey Black Forest cakes, a succulent Apfelstrudel, a creamy Käsekuchen, two Sachertorten and home-baked pretzels (Brezeln). But who was the overall winner? Congratulations to Priya, Uma and Alex J for winning the title of German Master Chefs 2022.
