Market Day – Stall Winners and How Much Did We Raise?

Market Day – Stall Winners and How Much Did We Raise?

On behalf of the Humanities team, I would just like to thank all the staff and students who were involved in Market Day on the last day of term 2.

It has taken us a while to finalise the totals, but now the numbers are in.

The day was a great success, even though we were forced to move location due to the weather. Everyone who visited us on the day had a great time and there were a variety of stalls created by our Year 9s and 10s.

We used the extended home room time on Thursday to gather the Year 9 and 10 students so that we could reveal the final total raised and award the prizes.

Coco Cabana won the best dressed award AND also made the most profit,

Sugar Shack won the innovation and creativity award, and

Three Ringed Circus won the runner up best dressed award.

John Coman was on hand to receive this year’s donation to Voice of Grace Australia and was able to share with the students the difference the money will make.

We were able to donate over $1000.00, which was a combination of Market Day taxes and the free dress day donations. The students were very excited to hear from Mr Coman, as well as getting their much-anticipated pay day.

Each year we have made more than the previous one. Here’s looking forwards to a bigger result next year!

Book Week and Learning Journey – AMAZING!

Book Week and Learning Journey – AMAZING!

Book Week Parade

Book Week was a wonderful celebration of all thing’s books and our college came together for an AMAZING Book Week Parade! Our Library was decorated with a Narnia theme and visitors had to walk through the wardrobe to enter Narnia!

It was a treat for our youngest students to have our Secondary School Students join in the parade, and I know that the enjoyment was also felt by our Secondary Students too!

The costumes were colourful and of great variety, just showing how well-read our students are!

Enjoy the pictures from the Parade…

Learning Journey

Our Primary Learning Journey was again, well-attended and the display of work in the Auditorium showed off the creativity, writing and thinking talents of not only our students, but of our staff as well. We are so blessed to have a team who are willing to sow into our children inside and outside the classroom and share this learning with our families.

The food trucks were a hit, and the rain did not keep the crowds away! Even the icecream truck had a roaring business!

Japanese Exchange Students

Japanese Exchange Students

In August we welcomed 20 years 7 – 10 Japanese Students, who live in Singapore, to our Secondary School. The group spent nine days in Western Australia and five of those days were at our college. They were able to experience life in our culture, Australian education and subjects as well as their first ever ice-cream from an icecream truck!

Interestingly, these students do not have subjects such as Drama, Outdoor Education and Woodwork at their school, so experiencing those subjects was also a treat for them and a revelation to our students as to how blessed we are with such opportunities. Twenty-four of our students were “buddies” for the five days our Japanese visitors were here, and some great friendships have been formed, as well as an interest in visiting their new friends overseas!

We were very proud of our students for the way they welcomed our visitors to the College. In December we will host another group for two days, so we are looking forward to this! If you can host a student please see the post at the end of this article.

Governor’s Prayer Breakfast

Governor’s Prayer Breakfast

Our Student Leadership Team, both Primary and Secondary, were privileged to be able to attend this year’s Governor’s Prayer Breakfast at the Burswood. They were able to meet the Governor of Western Australia, hear an inspiring guest speaker as well as pray for our State.
