Principal’s Post

Dear Families,

As we come to the end of another vibrant and full term and semester at Foundation Christian College, I want to take a moment to reflect and thank you for the incredible journey we’ve shared together.

This term has been filled with exceptional teaching and learning across the College. Our Primary students have shown great character and resilience through the GRIT interschool competitions, while our Secondary students have embraced opportunities like the Cross-Country event, Outdoor Education camps, and Physical Recreation activities with enthusiasm and energy. A big thank you to all our amazing staff here at FCC. Their dedication, passion for Christian education, and above all, their love and care for our students does not go unnoticed. We are so grateful for each one of them.

We also celebrated Science Week with creativity and curiosity and shared in some great community moments, from our Family Curry Cooking Afternoon to the lively Year 9–10 Market Stalls that brought the entire College together in a spirit of fun and entrepreneurship.

At Foundation Christian College, our core values of LeadershipIntegrity, Faith, Excellence, Respect and Service (LIFERS) continue to shape all we do. These values are not just words on a wall, they are seen daily around our college, our playgrounds, and our community interactions.

We’re excited about some significant developments taking place across the College. In Secondary, we are enhancing our facilities with a new outdoor beach volleyball court and workout spaces that will support both structured PE sessions and unstructured play during recess and lunch. We’re also expanding our nature play areas with improved tracks and seating, creating more opportunities for students to explore, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.

A quick reminder that our last day of Term 2 is today Friday, 27 June, and students will return to begin Term 3 on Wednesday, 23 July. Our Reception Office will reopen from Wednesday, 16 July for any enquiries during the break.

Thank you for your continued support and for partnering with us in your child’s education. It’s a privilege to serve this community and to walk alongside your family.

I pray you all have a safe, restful, and joy filled July school holiday break with your family and friends; and to our students and staff may you have a refreshing and well-deserved break.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:17

Kind regards,
Clint King

Science Week Fun

Science Week Fun

Last week was full of excitement and curiosity as we celebrated Science Week across our Primary School!

Our students from Years 3–6 became young scientists; diving into daily experiments that sparked wonder and learning — from bubbling reactions to hands-on challenges that had everyone thinking like real-world researchers!

And how amazing were the Science Dress-Ups? Our younger students brought the fun and creativity with costumes that showcased everything from lab coats to robots, planets, and more.

It was a week of discovery, imagination, and lots of laughter. Thank you to our staff for bringing learning to life and to our students for their energy and enthusiasm!

Year 3 Strings Concertino

Year 3 Strings Concertino

This Term we have celebrated our Year 3 Strings Program’s with their first Concertino!

Each year, Year 3 students get the unique opportunity to learn a stringed instrument, led by our devoted Kodály and Strings Specialist Teachers.

In this concert, students showed off their knowledge of the cello, violin and viola, and sat proudly with comfortable playing posture for our audience. They demonstrated musical skills like rhythm and beat, beautiful in-tune singing, pizzicato and arco playing styles, note reading and sol-fa, creative dance moves and even playing in up to 4 different parts!

We were joined by our wonderful and supportive music staff, and our Acting Head of Primary Mrs Thomas, who cheered our Year 3s on with great enthusiasm!

It has been a delight to see our Year 3s grow in confidence and in their love of music this semester!

Keep up the fantastic playing… Ta Ta Ti-Ti Ta!

Rugby Fun For Years 5 And 6

Rugby Fun For Years 5 And 6

Our Year 5 and 6 students had an awesome time taking part in a special rugby clinic!

With plenty of energy, and teamwork, they learned new skills, played some fun games, and built confidence both on and off the field.

A big thank you to Jahkayis Mabbbet from the Fremantle Roosters who visited our college and led the clinic. Jahkayis made it such an engaging and encouraging experience! We love seeing our students grow through sport!

PSSA Winter Sport with MBC

PSSA Winter Sport with MBC

On Friday afternoons, our Primary students take part in GRIT — an engaging program that encourages teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition.

On 13 June, our school proudly hosted Mandurah Baptist College for an exciting afternoon of interschool sports as part of the PSSA winter sport competition. Students competed in soccer, AFL, hockey, volleyball, and netball, displaying great determination and school spirit.

Our soccer team celebrated a fantastic win, and our hockey team played a close, hard-fought game.

GRIT continues to be a highlight of the week, bringing our community together and giving students the chance to grow through sport.

Secondary School at Interschool Cross Country

Secondary School at Interschool Cross Country

On Thursday 5 June, 27 students represented the College at the annual ACC Cross Country Championships. This is a very high-quality competition with approximately 350 students each race including the best runners in the state so to finish inside the top 120 students is outstanding. We had four students achieve this!

Fletcher Hilderbrandt (Year 10) – 54th/352 (3.37 per kilometre pace)

Lexie Karvinen (Year 10) – 79th/319 (4.36 per kilometre pace)

Isaiah Lansdown (Year 8) – 113th/368 (3:39 per kilometre pace)

Hannah Lindsay-Rae (Year 8) – 59th/385 (4.04 per kilometre pace)

All our students ran extremely well and represented our College with distinction. There are cut-off times for each race and all our students comfortably finished within these times.

Congratulations to all involved!

Bringing Digital Learning to Life Through Virtual Reality

Bringing Digital Learning to Life Through Virtual Reality

Over the past few weeks, our students have been engaged in an exciting and innovative project that brings their understanding of digital technology into the world of Virtual Reality. As part of their learning in Digital Technologies, students have explored key concepts such as Big Data, Network Architecture, Wired and Wireless Networks, Network Topologies, Protocols, and Digital Citizenship.

To deepen their understanding, students were tasked with creating an interactive VR experience using a program called CoSpaces. Each student selected a topic of interest and designed a virtual environment that teaches or demonstrates their chosen concept. From immersive exhibits on online safety and etiquette to interactive quests exploring how network protocols work, the creativity and depth of knowledge on display have been outstanding.

This project has not only encouraged critical thinking and technical skills but has also allowed students to express their learning in meaningful and imaginative ways. The process involved careful planning, a blend of theory and practical application, and an emphasis on originality and clarity of communication.

We are proud of how our students have embraced this challenge and look forward to showcasing their final VR creations in the coming weeks. It’s just one more way we’re preparing students for a future where technology and creativity go hand in hand.

Hitting the Mark with Excellence – Archery in PE

Hitting the Mark with Excellence – Archery in PE

At Foundation Christian College, we believe in providing unique and enriching experiences that align with our core values. Recently, our Physical Education program was taken to new heights as we welcomed a professional archery instructor to our school to introduce students to the ancient and disciplined sport of archery.

Throughout the sessions, students learned the fundamentals of archery, including safety, technique, focus, and control. More than just a physical activity, archery challenged our students to practice patience, responsibility, and perseverance—traits that align closely with our core value of Excellence.

Striving for excellence means giving our best in all we do, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or during new experiences like this one. Archery gave our students the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and develop both physical and mental skills, with many discovering hidden talents along the way.

It was encouraging to see our students support one another, show respect for the equipment and each other, and work hard to improve with each arrow drawn. We are proud of their enthusiasm and the excellent attitudes they displayed throughout the sessions.

We thank our visiting instructor for sharing their passion and expertise, and we look forward to exploring more creative and meaningful ways to help our students grow in both character and skill.

STEM In Action!

STEM In Action!

We were thrilled to welcome AVISTA to our school for an exciting and interactive STEM education incursion!

Students explored the science behind flight and aviation, rockets and propulsion, and autonomous systems — even getting the chance to jump on stage and assist with live experiments!

One of the highlights? Meeting a real drone dog — a cutting-edge example of STEM innovation in action!

More than just fun, the show highlighted the vital role of STEM in shaping our future and opened our students’ eyes to potential career pathways in the defence and technology industries.

A huge thank you to AVISTA for inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators!

Running the Race with Excellence: Secondary School Cross Country 2025

Running the Race with Excellence: Secondary School Cross Country 2025

On Friday 23 May, our Secondary Students laced up their running shoes and took to the course for this year’s much-anticipated Cross Country event—a day marked not only by physical challenge and perseverance, but also by a joyful sense of community and school spirit.

From the starting whistle to the final sprint across the finish line, our students gave their all. It was inspiring to witness every participant—whether racing for the podium or simply striving to complete the course—demonstrate determination, encouragement, and a heart to do their best.

At the heart of this event was our school’s core value of Excellence. In a Christian context, excellence is not just about being the best, but giving our best in all we do, as an offering to God. As Colossians 3:23 reminds us: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Our students truly embodied this spirit, pushing themselves with focus and integrity, and cheering on their peers with generous enthusiasm.

Our Top 5 boys and Girls for each year group are below:

Congratulations to our place-getters and age-group champions—but more importantly, congratulations to every student who ran the race with courage and commitment. You have reminded us that pursuing excellence means not just crossing the finish line, but how we run the race itself.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Foundation Christian College: Honouring Culture, Sharing Stories

Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Foundation Christian College: Honouring Culture, Sharing Stories

Last week, Foundation Christian College came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week—a special time to recognise and honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As a Christian college, we see NAIDOC Week as a valuable opportunity to reflect on the importance of reconciliation, respect, and relationship—values that are deeply rooted in our faith.

This year’s celebration was particularly meaningful as we welcomed Aboriginal artist and College Alumni Jayvin Cooper to our school community. Jayvin shared his personal journey with art and spoke about how Aboriginal art is a way to tell stories, pass down knowledge, and stay connected to land and identity. His passion inspired our students to see art as a powerful form of cultural expression and storytelling. We also welcomed Margaret Jacobs as our guest speaker, whose history with the college spans to our beginning. Mrs Jacobs encouraged us to do all we can to be united in Christ.

Students also enjoyed a hands-on experience learning how to make traditional damper over a campfire. The smell of fresh damper, the sound of crackling firewood, and the stories shared around the flames created a wonderful atmosphere of learning and connection.

As followers of Christ, we believe all people are made in the image of God and that every culture reflects His creativity and purpose. Celebrating NAIDOC Week is one way we show our commitment to love our neighbours, listen to their stories, and seek reconciliation through understanding and grace.

We are grateful to Jayvin Cooper and MArgaret Jacobs for generously sharing their time and knowledge, and to our staff and students who approached the week with such open hearts. May we continue to walk in respect and unity as we grow together in faith and understanding.

Student Music Recitals: A Celebration of Talent and Growth

Student Music Recitals: A Celebration of Talent and Growth

On 16 and 17 June, the College was filled with the sounds of music as our students stepped onto the stage for their annual recitals. Performing in front of family, friends, and staff, students showcased their skills across a range of instruments, including Violin, Cello, Piano, Flute, Classical Guitar, and Voice.

Each performance was a testament to the hours of dedication and practice our students have put into their musical studies. With the support and guidance of our passionate music tutors, it was wonderful to see students grow in confidence and ability.

We are incredibly proud of every performer and grateful for the opportunity to witness their musical journey. It was truly a joyful celebration of talent, and we’re already looking forward to seeing — and hearing — what next year will bring.
