Our Year Begins

Our Year Begins

What a smooth and calm start to the year it has been!

Firstly, a very warm welcome to our new families joining the FCC community, we are so blessed to have you with us. It is a joy to see our community continue to grow. This year, we have welcomed 102 new students across the College

Next, it is with great joy that we welcome our new staff members joining us across both Primary and Secondary this year. With 117 staff members across our College, we are truly blessed to work together, share life together, and encourage one another in both our professional and personal journeys.

At FCC, we are more than just a team we are a Christ centred community. Each staff member brings unique gifts and talents, united by a shared passion for Christian education and a heart for serving our students and families. As we welcome our new staff, we pray that they feel at home here, surrounded by a supportive and faith-filled environment.

As we begin this new year, it’s always important to reflect on where we came from. While we know our school is ultimately God’s work, FCC began 28 years ago when a small group of Christian parents desired something different for their children’s education, an environment where every staff member is a practicing Christian, and where faith is not just an add on but the foundation of all learning. Their vision was for education to be woven with Christian values and deeply embedded in biblical truth.

Today, 28 years later, we stand on a 23-acre campus with established facilities and over 740 students enrolled. We remain committed to being authentic in our faith, Christ-centred in our approach, and dedicated to providing students with a strong education that enables them to thrive.

Primary at FCC

Our Primary School is flourishing, providing a rich and engaging learning environment for our students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our K-2 students experience inquiry based learning with a balanced approach, ensuring they have hands on, interactive experiences while also benefiting from explicit teaching that builds strong foundational skills. In Years 3-6, students engage in project based learning, fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, all while maintaining a strong emphasis on quality education.

Beyond the classroom, our Primary programs continue to thrive. Our Esteem program for Years 3 and 4 helps students develop strong character and a firm understanding of their identity in Christ. In Years 5 and 6, students further develop leadership, teamwork, and life skills through the GRIT program, participation in interschool sport, and meaningful community service partnerships. Through activities such as visiting aged care facilities, learning woodwork and digital technology, and engaging in arts and crafts, our students are equipped with practical skills and a heart to serve others.

We are so proud of the incredible learning opportunities our Primary students experience, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow in faith, character, and academic excellence.

Secondary at FCC

Our Secondary school continues to grow from strength to strength, expanding subject offerings to support all pathways, including ATAR, Trade, and General courses. We have a dedicated team working closely with students and parents from Years 9-12 to help them navigate and choose the right pathway for their future. It is exciting to see our students equipped for success, knowing they are supported in an environment where Christ is at the centre of all we do.

Our Arts Department is thriving, offering students a wide range of opportunities, including music programs, performing arts, photography, and visual arts. We are also excited seeing our 2025 production of The Sound of Music coming alive, which is a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their talents.

Our Outdoor Education and Physical Education programs are also going from strength to strength, offering fitness programs tailored to individual needs and hands-on experiences such as boating qualifications, kayaking, mountain biking, sailing, and more. Our Physical Recreation program provides students the opportunity to learn golf, tennis, swimming, sailing, and other activities promoting life-long exercise.

In the MDT (Materials, Design & Technology) and Engineering spaces, students are thriving under the guidance of skilled educators, engaging in hands-on learning that inspires creativity and innovation.

Of course, core subjects including Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities, and ATAR subjects remain at the heart of our academic focus. Delivery of content and the modelling of concepts and skills is taught through high quality, explicit instructional practices at the whole class level. Our team is implementing the Gradual Release Responsibility model: ‘I do, we do, you do’. This structured, systematic approach is inclusive and supports learners of all abilities, especially in the acquisition stage of learning. This approach promotes adaptability and assists all students in the advancement of their learning.

Our Heart

We are committed to providing a Christ centred education that goes beyond academics. Our Whole College Christian Living Program offers a unique, Bible based curriculum designed to help students live out their faith with confidence and authenticity.

This program is more than just a subject it is an intentional, unapologetic approach to applying biblical truth in daily life. Through engaging lessons, discussions, and real life application, students are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus, develop a strong Christian worldview, and learn what it means to live authentically in faith, character, and action.

We are blessed to partner with families in raising a generation of young people who stand firm in their faith who are equipped to make a difference in the world around them. We are incredibly proud of the exciting opportunities available for our students and look forward to seeing them flourish in their learning and personal growth.

We look forward to continuing a fantastic year ahead!

Kind regards,
Clint King
Acting Principal

THANK YOU! A Mealworm donation for Year 2!

THANK YOU! A Mealworm donation for Year 2!

Our Year 2 classes are enjoying some new friends … MEALWORMS!

The Little Chicken Farm in Boddington recently donated two bags of mealworms to our Year 2s! Mrs Porter and Mrs Jones were so excited to receive this donation because it came at a great time in the Year 2 curriculum where students will be able to observe an animal life cycle.

Mrs Jones said, “The mealworms have grown quite a lot and we can now see them without the magnifying glasses. They have grown from about 0.5-1cm, to about 3-4cm now. They appear to be close to full mealworm size and we expect in the next week or two they may start to enter the next stage, pupa, before turning into a darkling beetle!”

Here is what The Little Chicken Farm said:
“Inspiring Young Minds – Mealworm Donation to Mandurah! 🐥🐛
We’re excited to have donated Little Mealworms to a school in Mandurah, giving students the opportunity to observe their life cycle up close! 🧐✨
Watching mealworms grow and transform is a hands-on, educational experience that helps kids learn about nature, sustainability, and the important role insects play in our ecosystem. 🌱🐞
We love supporting learning opportunities that connect students with the natural world.”
Thank you “The Little Chicken Farm”!

Our Girls and Boys Basketball Teams Shine in Interschool Competition

We are proud to celebrate our girls’ and boys’ basketball teams as they step onto the court for an exciting interschool competition! Competing against other schools is not just about winning games—it’s about teamwork, perseverance, and playing with integrity.

As our teams face challenges on the court, we encourage them to remember that their talents are gifts from God, meant to be used for His glory. These events are an opportunity to demonstrate dedication, sportsmanship, and respect for others. We thank our athletes for representing our school with grace and humility.

As we cheer them on, let us be reminded of these words:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

Go team! Play hard, stay strong, and honour God in all you do!

The Importance of an Engineering Program in a Secondary Christian School

The Importance of an Engineering Program in a Secondary Christian School

An engineering program in a secondary Christian school offers students valuable academic and spiritual growth, blending innovation with Christian values like stewardship, creativity, and service.

1. Faith and Innovation
Engineering allows students to solve real-world problems in ways that align with the biblical call to serve others (Mark 12:31). It teaches them to use their talents for the greater good, whether through sustainable design or improving communities.

2. Practical Skills
Hands-on engineering projects help students apply math and science concepts while developing critical thinking, creativity, and technical skills. These abilities are essential for both career success and living out their faith in a complex world.

3. Collaboration and Community
Engineering fosters teamwork, teaching students to communicate, respect others’ ideas, and work together—values that reflect Christian principles of unity and cooperation.

4. Stewardship and Responsibility
Engineering encourages students to think about their responsibility to care for God’s creation (Genesis 1:28). They learn to design with sustainability and ethical impact in mind, addressing real-world challenges like resource management and environmental stewardship.

5. Career Readiness
The program prepares students for careers in STEM fields while encouraging them to use their skills to serve others and fulfill their calling. It also inspires students to pursue higher education in engineering or related disciplines.

Our engineering program equips students with practical skills, a spirit of collaboration, and a sense of responsibility to use their talents for God’s glory. It prepares them for both future careers and to make a positive impact in the world.

Celebrating Achievements

Celebrating Achievements

Our Secondary Student Leaders were able to attend the National Youth Leaders Conference “Halogen” in Perth on 19 March. There was a common thread among the four speakers which was consistency. Consistency in their training, their attention, and focus. Throughout the day, the speakers were asked if their success came with sacrifice. They were all (ironically) consistent in their response: because they loved what they were doing, it never felt like it was a sacrifice. When you’re committed to an objective or mission that is beyond self, it makes the work worthwhile.

Celebrating Harmony Day at FCC

Celebrating Harmony Day at FCC

We joyfully celebrated Harmony Day, a special time to reflect on the beauty of diversity and the unity we share as God’s children. Our students came together to honour and respect the different cultures, backgrounds, and traditions that make our community so special.

Through activities, discussions, and shared experiences, our students were reminded that God created each of us uniquely, yet calls us to live in love and harmony. As a Christian school, we believe that true unity comes from following Christ’s example of love, kindness, and acceptance.

Harmony Day is more than just a celebration—it is a reminder of our calling to treat others with respect and compassion, just as Jesus did. When we embrace our differences and love one another, we reflect the heart of God’s kingdom.

The students and staff of Foundation Christian College come from all around the world and represent many cultures.

l and blessed to have this strength in our community.

As the Bible reminds us:

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:3

May we continue to walk in unity, celebrating the diversity that strengthens our school and brings us closer as a community of faith.

Breakfast Club

Our amazing Chaplains bring Breakfast Club to the College every Wednesday before school. Breakfast Club is held in the Goodwill Centre (G Block) from 8:05am – 8:20am. Students need to sign in at the desk in the Goodwill Centre (G block) after 8:05am and then line up for their breakfast. Chaplains Kelly, Caroline and Josh will be there to bless and serve our students. Toast, cereal and juice are served.

Carpark Speed Limit

Families are reminded that the speed limit through our carpark is 10km/hr. We have had several near-misses and ask that you take care through the carpark. Even if you are in a hurry for work or an appointment, it is not worth risking the life of a child.
