Secondary Examinations, EST’s and NAPLAN
Secondary Examinations, EST’s
This week our Year 12 General Students have been completing their EST’s (Externally Set Tasks) in their relevant subject areas. This is a busy week for our students as they completed these important tasks under timed conditions. For our Year 11 & 12 students, the Semester is nearly completed, with the completion of set tasks, good time management and planning being skills to fine tune at this time!
Our Year 11 and 12 ATAR students have examinations approaching; Week 7 (31 May – 4 June), for our Year 12’s and Week 9 (14 –18 June), for our Year 11 students. Here are details and timetable relating to the Year 11 and 12 Examinations that have been emailed to all Year 11 Students and their guardians: Year 11 Semester 1 Guidelines 2021 and Year 12 Semester 1 Guidelines 2021.
Our Year 7-10 students will also complete examinations for their core subjects of Mathematics, Science, HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences), and English in Week 10 (21-25 June). At our College, an Assessment Free Week always precedes examinations, and this week is dedicated to revision of subject materials and explaining the layout and requirements of exam papers. Also, at our Secondary College we cater to the diverse needs of our students in providing: Modified, Adjusted or Standard Examination papers that align with the needs and abilities of our students. Students are able to complete their examinations in our Learning Support Centre to avail themselves of breaks, staff to support by reading exam questions or being provided extra time, according to Documented Plan intervention strategies. We value the diverse needs of every child and try to support development and progress in all our students, as our prime goal.
*Please see relevant information for our Curriculum Coordinators that will be emailed to you and your child for further information or please call the College if you have any queries at all.
NAPLAN Online is completed for 2021 !
Well done to all our Year 7 and 9 students who completed their NAPLAN online this year! This new was well supported by our IT team and Mrs Phizacklea, our Learning Support Coordinator, who coordinated this complex process with the support of Mr Angelos for the Whole College! We look forward to some great progress demonstrated in all our students!
We must remember that this is one test, on one day, and although this may give us some vital information on gaps in student learning, it only reflects a small ‘snap shot’ of our students’ ability in literacy and numeracy.
