Year 9 Camp: A Week of Adventure, Teamwork and Big Smiles
Our Year 9 students recently returned from an unforgettable camp in Busselton three days packed with challenge, excitement, personal growth and plenty of laughs. Set against the beautiful coastal backdrop of the South West, the camp gave students the perfect opportunity to push themselves, build resilience and strengthen friendships outside the classroom.
One of the highlights of the week was the High Ropes Course, where students tested their courage several metres above the ground. Whether they were balancing across wobbly beams or taking a leap of faith from the platform, everyone showed incredible determination and team spirit. It was inspiring to see students stepping outside their comfort zones and cheering each other on every step of the way.
Down on the water, students took part in rafting, working together to paddle, balance and navigate as a team. The activity was full of splashes, laughter, friendly competition and a healthy dose of persistence especially when the wind or waves made things extra challenging!
Students also enjoyed the challenge of archery, learning new skills as they took aim at the targets. For many, it was their first experience holding a bow, and they quickly discovered how much focus and control it takes. Friendly contests soon emerged, and quite a few students surprised themselves with impressive accuracy.
These were just a few of the activities that filled the week. Between the adventure sessions, shared meals, evening games and time spent together at the campsite, the camp offered a wonderful chance for students to connect, relax and enjoy a break from routine. As always, their behaviour, enthusiasm and willingness to participate made staff incredibly proud.
A huge thank‑you goes to the teachers and support staff who attended, encouraged and supervised throughout the trip. Their energy and care ensured that the camp ran smoothly and safely from start to finish.
Our Year 9 students returned home tired but smiling a sure sign of an excellent camp. We’re already looking forward to the next adventure!
