How to Get the Most out of the Conference

How to Get the Most out of the Conference

For a Conference Experience that’s Smooth Sailing …
  1. Download the Conference App – this will be your main source of information throughout the Event.
  2. Study the Conference Program before you get to the venue and highlight your ‘must-see’ Sessions. Use the App to create your schedule in advance, so that it’s easily accessible on the day!
  3. Make sure to visit the Exhibitors in between Sessions and during refreshment breaks. Our Partners’ support has truly made it possible for us to provide this Conference for you. They’ve got some great solutions to some of your key Advancement office challenges, and they’ll have a good understanding of what you need (and what you don’t) – so we strongly encourage you to stop by their booths!
  4. Make notes, take photos, access the materials that are available to download … and do it while you’re there. It’s so easy to forget those great ideas that inspired you during a Session, once you’re back at the office.
  5. At the end of each Session, highlight three things that you’re going to act on.
  6. Wear comfy shoes! (Your feet will thank us later for this one!)

The 5 ‘Must Dos’ in Perth

The following information is extracted from the Business Events Perth website.

1. Check out the Fremantle Markets

First opened in 1897 when visitors would arrive by horse and cart, Fremantle markets are now open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for locals and business travelers alike. Boasting an eclectic atmosphere with over 100 years of vibrant culture and heritage, the markets now have over 150 stalls of fresh and local produce, handcrafted souvenirs, clothing, delicious meals and unique street artists to make this a fun day out for all.

2. Pack a Picnic for Kings Park

King’s Park is one of the world’s largest inner-city parks with over 400 hectares of protected bushland and 3000 species of native flora and fauna. After a stroll through the Botanical Gardens, enjoy a pre-packed picnic or grab a bite to eat at one of few cafes and enjoy the sweeping views across the Swan river, the City skyline and the Darling Ranges.

3. Take a Quokka Selfie on Rottnest Island

Just a short 30-minute ferry ride away from Perth is the beautiful Rottnest Island. Find locals and tourists snorkeling in the turquoise waters, exploring a network of walking and cycling trails, having a beach day at one of the 63 white sandy beaches, all whilst being surrounded by adorable quokkas roaming the island – what more could you ask for?

Did you know: Quokkas are known for their smile and playfulness, which has landed them the title of the ‘happiest animal in the world.’

4. Explore the Swan Valley Wine Region

Swan Valley is the oldest wine region in Western Australia, with over 40 world-class wineries and numerous breweries, cideries, distilleries and restaurants. Perth locals commonly sip and sample their way through different cellar doors in the region, which you can either self-drive or better yet attend an organised tour so you can indulge in the products yourself.

5. Witness one of Perth’s Renowned Sunsets

One of the best perks about living in Perth is its stunning coastline with crystal clear water and gleaming white sand. Grab a towel and join the locals at one of Perth’s many beaches and stay on to observe a memorable sunset over the Indian Ocean. We recommend checking out one of Perth’s favourites – Cottesloe or Scarborough beach.

Speed Networking & a Huge Thank You to our Valuable Partners

Speed Networking & a Huge Thank You to our Valuable Partners

We Couldn’t Do It Without You!

Thank you to the following Partners and Exhibitors for their support of the Empowering Success International Conference. We encourage Delegates to visit the Exhibition Hall during the course of the Conference, to get to know our Partners and Exhibitors and find out more about how they can assist you.

There are many opportunities throughout the Conference to meet with the Partners and Exhibitors … and follow are the guidelines around the Speed Networking activity scheduled for Day 2.

Speed Networking Information:
Thursday 12 September | 11.35am-12.05pm
During this time period, Delegates will be encouraged to meet with their top 5-6 Exhibitors, to discuss the following questions:

  1. How can your organisation benefit my institution?
  2. How can your organisation make my role better / easier?
  3. What three things do I need to know about you as an organisation?
  4. Can I scan your QR Code?
There will be no bells or formal timekeeping, but we recommend that Exhibitors keep these discussions short (approx 5 mins each), particularly if you notice that other Delegates are waiting to speak with you.

There are 35 Partners and Exhibitors in total – all of which are experts in various functions and aspects of the Advancement office! We encourage you to meet with them all – and don’t forget to ask to scan their QR Codes while you’re there … as Partner/Exhibitor scans add points in the Conference QR Hunt!
