What is the length of time you’ve been in educational Advancement and what is your prior experience?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have been working in educational Advancement for more than 25 years, and have been involved in everything from international student recruitment to enrolments and fees. I am coming up to 3.5 years with Penrhos College, and previously worked for 17 years in Student Management within Higher Education (UWA & Murdoch). Before that I worked in Malaysia with British Council and INTI College.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your proudest achievement?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My proudest achievement has been building authentic, long-lasting relationships within the various organisations I have worked in. I\u2019ve always believed when you invest in people and work collaboratively within teams, every goal is achievable. A 20% increase in enrolments in my first 12months from process improvements is also another highpoint!<\/span><\/p>\n

What has been your biggest challenge?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The biggest challenge has been managing the evolving expectations of various stakeholders simultaneously and staying true to core values. Working within educational Advancement requires both strategy and heart, and finding that equilibrium is ongoing; not to mention trying to maintain a work life balance as well.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the most impactful book or podcast you\u2019ve consumed recently?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am currently in the middle of Kaizen by Sarah Harvey; a recommendation from my 17-year-old son! Not sure what change he\u2019s hoping for and for who\u2019s benefit but I\u2019ll give it a go!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are three tips or words of advice for new members and\/or those new to Advancement?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Patience is truly a virtue \u2014 everything takes time and you will get there<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Keep learning \u2013 this is an ever-evolving sector<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Be your authentic self \u2013 genuine honesty can be hard to accept but people do appreciate it<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \u00a0<\/span>What do you find most valuable in being a member of Educate Plus?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The networking with like-minded professionals who have been so generous with their knowledge and support. It\u2019s been incredibly invaluable and refreshing to share ideas, challenges, and successes with others who actually understand the \u201cunique\u201d world of educational Advancement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
