Digital Engagement: Bridging Trend or Disruptive Force

Digital Engagement: Bridging Trend or Disruptive Force

This article is written by Mark Sollis, a Global consultant (D3) and education technology entrepreneur (Neutopia) focused on learning and community. Digital engagement, has been gathering momentum for years – in facilitating learning, building community, and marketing organisations. Yet, in some aspects of education it has stayed somewhat out on the periphery, seen as an acceptable, but lesser cousin to a physical classroom, an on-site event, or an in-person meeting. These past few weeks, and the weeks and months ahead, will provide opportunity to reflect on digital engagement in a whole new light.

With this global crisis affecting every aspect of life, education is no different. We can all see the countless examples of learning environments moving online:  home schooling for primary students, universities and colleges shifting to virtual lectures, and all manners of stakeholder engagement activities cancelled or replaced with a digital proxy.

Mentoring Program

What if you had a powerful resource right down the hall or a Zoom click away that could help you be even more effective day in and day out? And what if that powerful resource was free and yours for the asking? Chances are you’re thinking “Where do I sign up?”, am I right?… Well, that resource is called mentoring and the program is mutually beneficial to both mentors and mentees.

The Educate Plus Mentoring program is a structured but informal, mutually beneficial relationship in which colleagues provide each other regular opportunities to catch up and discuss experiences, skills, and career pathways.

It’s exclusively available for members, it’s free, widely available and it works.

Alan Stevens presenting

Building Relationships and Business in a Challenging World

One of the most valuable factors that influence prospects in choosing which business they associate with, and who they want to associate with, the one we often don’t talk about, is interpersonal compatibility.

If a customer is interested in your products but doesn’t find your team easy to talk to, good luck with that! The longer you take to get to know, like and trust each other, the slower and weaker the relationship will be.

In this presentation, Alan will demystify the power of reading people to build better relationships. He will cover how to read people to know how they prefer to be spoken to and treated, all within just seconds of meeting them, ensuring memorable and lasting relationships.

Those who attend will have the firsthand opportunity to learn how others see them and how to use that to an advantage.

Dr Helena Popovic presenting

Most people work on building up and boosting their financial assets. But how many people work on building up and boosting their greatest asset: their brain?

The revolutionary field of neuroplasticity has shown that the brain can change its structure and function. It can grow new cells, new circuits and new connections in response to what we do, think, feel and believe.

We are more than passive victims of our genes: we play an active role in how our brains develop throughout our lives. However most people are yet to realise the enormous personal power this gives them.

For our brain to stay healthy and operate at its best, we need the right nutrition, rest, stimulation, challenge and reward. Most importantly, we need to take charge of our thinking because our thoughts play an integral role in wiring our brains for optimal performance.
