Introducing …

Each eNews, we introduce you to one of our wonderful Chapter Members, through a Question & Answer type interview article.

Therefore, in the hotseat this edition, is Joanna Arvanitis | Project and Systems Manager | King’s Baptist Grammar School

1.Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

From the age of 5, I played the role of ‘Emily’ in the three original The Fairies movies filmed here in South Australia. I also performed in the live shows around SA as a child. Singing, dancing and performing were a passion of mine growing up.

2. What led you to your present role? What is your favourite aspect?

Prior to my role at King’s Baptist Grammar School, I worked as a Business Development Manager at the University of South Australia’s Australian Centre for Business Growth. I was one of the founding team members of the Centre and was responsible for a broad range of tasks, including marketing, driving enrolments, setting up and maintaining systems, and developing digital content, including e-learning courses. The program content we delivered at the Australian Centre for Business Growth taught me the knowledge and skills required for an organisation to grow – and I think this has largely contributed to my holistic understanding of business operations.

My favourite aspect of my current role as Project and Systems Manager at King’s is the opportunity to work collaboratively with staff across the whole school and drive change to streamline processes.  I enjoy the process of having a vision, leading a team through a complex project with multiple stakeholders and seeing the vision come to life at the end of the project lifecycle.

 3. How long have you been a member of EP?

Almost 2 years.

4. What has being a member done to help your career development?

I have found that the networking and professional development opportunities offered by Educate Plus have been truly valuable because they provide regular opportunities to connect with other schools and continue learning.

5. Who would you like to have lunch with and where?

This is a tricky question and would change on a regular basis depending on my stage of life and interests. I think lunch with Janine Allis (Founder of Boost Juice) would be very interesting and insightful. I’d love to hear about how she navigated the growth of Boost Juice as a female founder while also juggling parenthood.

6. Favourite food and why?

Lasagna. It is my definition of soul food!

7. Where is your favourite travel location and why?

My favourite travel location is Italy. Not only because of the incredible food, scenery, attractions etc, but because it is a place of cultural connection to my family’s heritage. When I have visited, it brings a feeling of ‘being home’.

8. What does success look like to you?

Working collaboratively with a team to achieve a shared goal that will positively impact the school/organisation.

Thank you Joanna Arvanitis – it’s been wonderful getting to know you!
