Marketing SIG, 30 July
Thank you to Suzanne Oxford of New Word Order for being a fantastic facilitator for the Marketing SIG held in July, leading robust discussion between members around strategies for keeping our communities connected and up-to-date while navigating the challenges of COVID-19 restrictions.
One of the outstanding qualities of our members is their willingness to share ideas to help out their peers and have open discussions on difficulties they are facing. This is especially true when so many of our members can feel isolated and alone.
Our Marketing SIG with all its gems of information and tips is available for members to view in the resources section of the Educate Plus website: https://www.educateplus.edu.au/sig-lets-talk-marketing-strategy-in-a-post-covid-world/
Admissions SIG, 30 July
On Thursday the 30th of July we held a very informative Admissions SIG on “How to Strategise your Scholarships and Bursaries Offering”. This was to be a small Queensland only round table event, which morphed into a national virtual forum with close to 100 participants! Scholarships and Bursaries is a sensitive topic that we don’t often have the opportunity to discuss as a professional peer group, and the insights, learnings and ideas that we shared were extremely valuable.
Topics covered included:
- What are some of the measures your schools have put in place to ensure the process of awarding a scholarship or bursary is equitable?
- How do you manage the confidentiality aspect surrounding the process?
- As an Admissions professional, what role do you play once the student has commenced in terms of monitoring progress and fulfilling the obligations attached to the scholarship or bursary, and ensuring the student and family is set up for success?
- What are some of the measures a school has in place to assist and then perhaps eventually exit student who not meeting the criteria of the scholarship or bursary agreement?; and
- What are some of the methods you use to test financial needs based applications?
It was clear that we all have similar questions and challenges, and assisting each other with ideas around process in particular is something we should explore as a group again. Please get in touch via suhlmann@stmargarets.qld.edu.au if you have some further ideas you would like us to cover off in a follow up session in 2021.
