President’s Message – December 2025

Dear Members,

It is a privilege to introduce myself to you as the 12th President of the Educate Plus Queensland Chapter. Many of you will know me from my role as Director of Advancement at The Women’s College within The University of Queensland, and from my involvement on the Chapter Executive and Summit Committees over recent years. I am honoured to step into this role and excited to serve our vibrant community of advancement professionals.

We enter 2026 with extraordinary momentum – and in a milestone year, no less. Next year marks the 35th anniversary of the Queensland Chapter, and Brisbane will proudly host the Educate Plus International Conference from 1–4 September 2026. With an expanded committee of 20 dedicated colleagues and our new Chapter ‘home’ at Ballymore Stadium, the year ahead promises connection, growth, and celebration.

Before looking too far forward, I want to extend thanks to outgoing President Claire Grlj for her exceptional leadership throughout 2023–2025. Under Claire’s stewardship, our Chapter reached record membership, delivered its largest-ever Summit, strengthened partnerships, and expanded regional engagement. Claire has left an incredible legacy, and we are all beneficiaries of her vision and energy.

My sincere thanks also go to our Executive and Summit Committees. It was wonderful to have an opportunity to celebrate our 2025 achievements at Bar Alto, Brisbane Powerhouse, last Thursday.

Finally, a big thank you to CEO Mandy McFarland and the outstanding National Team she leads, and to our Chapter and Professional Development Partners for supporting such a successful year.

Wishing you all a restful and joy-filled summer break. I look forward to connecting with you in 2026 as we celebrate 35 years of Educate Plus Queensland and welcome colleagues from across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia to our home city.
