Supported by the <strong>educate+<\/strong> Travel Grant programme, a number of members were able to attend and have shared their reflections on what was an energising and impactful professional development experience.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A Summit of Shared Purpose<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">From the opening sessions to Glen Denham\u2019s powerful closing keynote on authentic leadership and resilience, Delegates were reminded that our work in education is not transactional, it\u2019s transformational. The Summit theme, <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2018Make Tomorrow\u2019<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, resonated deeply across the programme, reinforcing the shared belief that by collaborating, innovating and learning from one another, we can build stronger communities and more sustainable Advancement programmes for the future.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Attendees spoke of the renewed sense of purpose that came from hearing honest stories of leadership, cultural authenticity and community building. As one noted, the event <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201creinforced that our efforts go far beyond transactional interactions, it\u2019s about belonging, storytelling and people.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Practical Tools and Real-World Strategy<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Summit\u2019s strength lay in its practical, immediately usable content. Dr Alan Watkinson\u2019s <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Creating the Future \u2013 Capital Campaign Success<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> provided a roadmap for effective Fundraising, with clear strategies around case development, leadership engagement and donor stewardship. Karla Paotonu\u2019s <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Restarting a Development Programme<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> offered structure and first-step guidance, while Russell Davidson\u2019s <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Do More with Less<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> shared innovative ways to build Alumni communities through low-cost, high-impact ideas like generation badges, special-interest clubs, and alumni-student connection events<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Maria English\u2019s <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Measuring Impact<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Session inspired Delegates to better link data to storytelling, showing how evidence-based reporting can build donor trust and deepen Alumni relationships<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Embracing Innovation and Change<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">New technologies and creative communication were strong threads throughout the programme.<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">AI in the Advancement Office<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> masterclass proved one of the most talked-about sessions, equipping attendees with simple, ethical workflows to streamline writing, automate routine tasks and \u201cwork smarter not harder.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hone Paul\u2019s workshop on cultural rebranding and the integration of Te Reo M\u0101ori into institutional storytelling resonated deeply with participants, while Amy Woodley-Davis\u2019s Session on brand storytelling and Jayne-Ann Young\u2019s reflections on leading change at Queen Margaret College highlighted the importance of authenticity in every message we share.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Power of Community<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Every report echoed the same sentiment, that the opportunity to connect face-to-face was as valuable as the learning itself. Delegates described the atmosphere as collegial, supportive, and inspiring. <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWorking in Advancement can sometimes feel siloed,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> one attendee wrote, <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cso the chance to share wins, challenges, and a sense of camaraderie was exactly what I didn\u2019t know I needed.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Informal networking, from coffee conversations to the Giving Architects welcome event at Queen Margaret College all sparked new friendships and collaborations that will continue long after the Summit ended.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Diverse Voices, Shared Learning<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">From privacy law to archives, from pedagogy and promotion to data-driven Fundraising, the breadth of topics reflected the strength of the <strong>educate+<\/strong> community.<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sessions such as <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Privacy Consciousness \u2013 Enabling Advancement through the Effective Use of Privacy Law<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Stories We Share: Archives for Community Engagement<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> encouraged participants to reflect on ethics, consent and storytelling in the digital age.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Others were inspired by sessions highlighting service, equity and purpose, \u201c<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a reminder of the privilege and responsibility that come with working in education,\u201d <\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">as one Delegate put it<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The quality of speakers, the diversity of sessions and the willingness of everyone to share their knowledge made this Summit <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cone of the best Educate Plus events yet.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Value of Professional Development<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Across all reports, gratitude was a recurring theme, gratitude for the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow. Many noted that the insights gained are already influencing strategy, engagement and communications within their schools. <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe value of the information I left with far outweighs the financial outlay,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> one wrote, while another said simply, <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI left feeling recharged and reminded of the impact we can have when we lead with purpose and heart.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Acknowledging the Team Behind the Summit<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The NZ Chapter Committee extends thanks to everyone who made the Wellington Summit such a success from our presenters and facilitators, venue hosts, sponsors and every volunteer who gave their time and energy to create a warm and seamless event experience.
