This week the first Member in the hotseat is: Adrian Quig<\/a>,\u00a0Head of Philanthropy and Fundraising, St Gregory\u2019s College Campbelltown\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nWhen and where did your career in education begin?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n<\/span>My career in education began at\u202f<\/span>St Gregory\u2019s College, Campbelltown<\/span><\/b>, where I have the privilege of working again today. What started as an opportunity to contribute through pastoral care and support, has evolved into a deeply rewarding vocation within Philanthropy, Advancement and Relationship Management. Being part of a school that values tradition, faith, and future-focused education has shaped both my career and purpose.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What interests you most in terms of your role?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n<\/span>What excites me most is the people \u2014 connecting Alumni, families, donors, staff, students and community partners in meaningful ways. I\u2019m fascinated by the power of storytelling and relationships to create opportunity, preserve legacy, and build a stronger future for the College.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n<\/span>Seeing generosity\u00a0turn\u00a0into real impact is incredibly fulfilling. Whether\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0through scholarship support, facility upgrades, student\u00a0opportunities\u00a0or community events, knowing that the work we do directly\u00a0benefits\u00a0young people makes every long day worthwhile.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you love most about your role?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n<\/span>I love that no two days are ever the same. One moment\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0working on a strategic partnership, the next\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0helping plan a major community event or reconnecting an Old Boy with the College after decades away.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0dynamic, relational, and\u00a0purpose-driven.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are you currently doing that would interest other members in educate+?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n<\/span>Right now, I\u2019m leading partnerships for the return of our iconic St Gregory\u2019s College Rodeo, which will be one part of our Centenary celebrations in 2026. We\u2019re actively seeking corporate partners, sponsors and community collaborators, and it\u2019s a fantastic example of how events, engagement and Advancement strategy intersect to celebrate tradition while driving future impact. The re introduction of our College Rodeo is the perfect mix of nostalgia and excitement to create an event to welcome as many \u202f\u201chome\u201d as possible. With 2000 tickets sold in the first hour and at 80% capacity in the first week it\u2019s heartwarming to see the majority of attendees are \u201cOld Boys\u201d.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For anyone embarking on a role in Advancement, what advice would you give them?
\n<\/span><\/b>Start with relationships before revenue. Listen deeply, understand motivations, be patient, and always act with integrity. Advancement is ultimately about trust, and trust takes time. Also, stay curious, keep learning, and never underestimate the power of telling your school\u2019s story well.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s\u00a0one small daily ritual that helps you do your best work?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n<\/span>A cold drink bottle, a quick prayer, and a look at my calendar before the rush of the day begins. It helps me centre myself and keep perspective on why I do what I do.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s one thing about your school community that always makes you smile?
\n<\/span><\/b>Two things:<\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly – There\u2019s something truly special about walking through our school of 1,700 staff and students and being greeted at every turn. Often by name by both staff and students \u2014 it speaks volumes about the culture we share. It makes the busiest and longest of days worthwhile.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Secondly -\u202fThe genuine loyalty of our\u202f<\/span>Old Boys<\/span><\/b>. No matter how long\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0been away, once a Gregs boy\u00a0always\u00a0a Gregs boy \u2014 and that sense of belonging never fades.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What motivated you to join the educate+ Committee?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0
\n<\/span>I was motivated to join the Committee because I genuinely believe in the\u202fpower of collaboration and shared wisdom\u202fwithin our sector. Advancement work can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be complex \u2014 and having a community of like-minded professionals who are willing to share ideas, challenges and successes is invaluable. I was also keen to give back to a profession that has given me so much, and to contribute in a way that supports the growth and sustainability of advancement across schools more broadly.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
