On Monday, 1 June, a select group of our Year 10 students, accompanied by Mrs Smit, proudly represented the College at the prestigious <\/span>Preparing Future Women Leaders<\/span><\/i> seminar. Hosted by Loreto Kirribilli, this afternoon workshop brought together students representing over 20 schools, creating a vibrant network of young women working together to discuss contemporary issues related to leadership.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our students were guided through this seminar by Dr Nicole Archard, Principal of Loreto Kirribilli, a highly respected voice in girls’ education and leadership development. Under her expert facilitation, the girls engaged in thought-provoking discussions to unpack their unique leadership potential. Rather than looking at leadership as just a title, Dr Archard helped the students identify their individual strengths and develop the practical skills needed to lead effectively, both within their schools and out in the broader community.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar arrived at a crucial time in education. While girls are well represented in academic achievement, significant societal disparities still exist when they enter the workforce. The workshop confronted these realities head-on, introducing students to global and national data regarding the persistent gender wage gap and the ongoing under representation of women in corporate boardrooms, executive suites and political leadership worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

Armed with these facts, our Year 10 girls were challenged to think critically about structural inequities. They explored how they can break down these barriers and act as true agents of change, using their voices to advocate for fairness, diversity and progress. It is a message that resonates deeply with our own Domremy narrative, calling on our girls to shine their light brightly and purposefully in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are incredibly proud of the students who were selected for this leadership opportunity and how beautifully they represented our community. They have returned with a renewed sense of purpose and fresh perspectives required to become the influential changemakers of tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n
