As part of our ongoing sustainability efforts, the Gardening Club has been carefully monitoring the steady progress of our school\u2019s Laudato Si\u2019 Garden. Many of the plants are now thriving, with strong growth across the garden beds, and students are eagerly preparing for our next harvest in the coming week. This term has also seen the care and maintenance of a new seasonal crop, including capsicum, French beans, cabbages, leek and various herbs, which will continue to grow and contribute to future harvests.<\/span><\/p>\n

The garden has become a valuable hands-on learning space where students develop practical skills in planting, maintaining and caring for living systems, while also gaining a deeper appreciation for sustainable food production. Through regular watering, weeding and monitoring, students are learning that meaningful environmental stewardship requires patience, consistency and shared responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inspired by Pope Francis\u2019 encyclical Laudato Si\u2019, after which the garden is named, this project continues to remind us of the importance of caring for our common home with intention and gratitude. Beyond producing fresh ingredients that can be used across the school, the garden serves as a visible symbol of our College\u2019s commitment to sustainability, stewardship and community connection. As the space continues to flourish, it remains a small but meaningful example of how collective action can create lasting environmental impact.<\/span><\/p>\n
