The Laudato Si\u2019 Garden continues to grow as a vibrant space for sustainability, learning and community at Domremy College. This week, members of the Garden Club came together to plant a new seasonal crop, preparing the beds for a productive winter harvest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students carefully planted a range of vegetables and herbs, including capsicum, French beans, cabbages, leek and dill. Before planting, the garden beds were prepared with fresh soil and compost, helping to improve soil health and ensure the plants have the nutrients they need to thrive. Students worked collaboratively to space the seedlings correctly, water them in and label each section of the garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

This new crop will take several weeks to establish, and Garden Club members will continue to care for the plants through regular watering, maintenance and monitoring as part of the club\u2019s ongoing roster. When ready, the produce will be harvested and used by students in Hospitality and Food Technology, allowing the garden to directly support learning across a range of subjects.<\/span><\/p>\n

The garden is more than just a place to grow food. Inspired by Pope Francis\u2019 message in Laudato Si\u2019, it encourages students to reflect on our responsibility to care for the Earth and to recognise the connections between people, food and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

With another crop now in the ground, the Laudato Si\u2019 Garden continues to flourish as a space where sustainability, stewardship and community come together and we look forward to seeing the harvest in the months ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n
