{"id":22167,"date":"2026-02-20T15:00:23","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T04:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/domremy\/?post_type=article&#038;p=22167"},"modified":"2026-02-20T15:00:23","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T04:00:23","slug":"textile-art-piece-challenge","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/domremy\/article\/textile-art-piece-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Textile Art Piece Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are incredibly proud to announce that four of our talented students have been recognised in the 2025 TEA TAP (Textile Art Piece) Challenge, a state-wide competition celebrating creativity, innovation and excellence in textile design.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Second Prize \u2013 Stage 4<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Kaya Young \u2013 <\/b><b><i>Botanical Harmony<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kaya was awarded Second Prize in Stage 4 for her elegant cushion design, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Botanical Harmony<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Inspired by the delicate balance of nature, Kaya\u2019s piece features calla lilies symbolising purity and elegance, alongside a butterfly representing transformation and life. She utilised applique to layer bold botanical forms onto a navy background, allowing strong colour contrast and visual impact. Intricate embroidery detailing, particularly within the lilies, added refinement and technical sophistication to the final piece. Drawing inspiration from botanicals, Eva incorporated five blue star creeper flowers against a soft beige background. The striking cobalt blue tones created visual contrast, while embroidered outlines and leaf stitching enhanced the botanical theme. The addition of button centres introduced a subtle three-dimensional element, elevating the overall craftsmanship. Her work captured the hidden beauty beneath the ocean\u2019s surface, combining applique sharks to create bold silhouetted forms with delicate embroidery to enhance texture and movement. Through stencil printing techniques, Isabella amplified natural spirals and patterns, creating rhythm and visual depth. Inspired by global flora and fauna, her work celebrated the irregular beauty of nature. Tayla incorporated pastel tones, handcrafted embellishments and embroidery to add texture and individuality. The intentional use of contrasting colours ensured each flag was visually engaging, while the imperfect hand-finished details symbolised nature\u2019s organic character.
