On 14 November, Year 8 headed out to The Rocks to learn more about the importance of water in Sydney, to help us with our current geography topic, \u201cWater in the World\u201d. Throughout the day, we visited Circular Quay, and the Observatory Hill Park. We were led and taught by some very engaging and knowledgeable guides from \u201cRanger Jamie Tours,\u201d who taught us all about the use of water in Sydney since the arrival of the First Fleet.<\/p>\n

One of the most interesting parts was learning about the Tank Stream which was the early settlers\u2019 first water supply, which ran all the way from Hyde Park to Circular Quay through Pitt Street. We also participated in a hands-on water pH testing activity to check the water quality of different water sources, including Sydney Harbour water, rainwater, and tap water.<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed this activity as it helped us connect what we have been learning in class, to real-world situations. Overall, it was a great day which allowed us to spend time with our friends and classmates, while learning about the long history of water in Sydney. (Erin. Y8V)<\/p>\n
