Addressing the faithful gathered for his weekly General Audience,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Pope Leo XIV turned his thoughts once more to the world\u2019s many conflict zones.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In recalling the upcoming liturgical commemoration of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

which is celebrated on Friday, 22 August, <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Pope Leo invited the faithful to celebrate that day by praying and fasting for peace.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMary is the Mother of the faithful here on earth and is remembered\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n
as the Queen of Peace,\u201d\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n

the Pope said.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

As our world continues to be wounded by wars – in the Holy Land, in Ukraine, and in other parts of the world –\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

the Pope invited all the faithful to take part in\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

“a day of prayer and fasting”\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n

for all those who suffer because of war,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

“imploring the Lord to grant us peace and justice,\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n
and to wipe away the tears of those who\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n
suffer because of ongoing armed conflicts.”<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n

“May Mary, Queen of Peace,\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n
intercede so that peoples may find the path of peace,”<\/strong> he added.<\/span><\/i><\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pope Leo also greeted Polish-speaking faithful making\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Cz\u0119stochowa\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

at Jasna G\u00f3ra, who were attending the audience.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI ask you”<\/i><\/strong>,<\/i> he said, <\/i>“to include in your intentions the\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n
supplication for the gift of peace \u2013 a peace that is disarmed and disarming \u2013<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n
\u00a0for the whole world, especially for Ukraine and the Middle East.”<\/i><\/strong><\/h6>\n
