This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost Sunday.\u00a0 In the Jewish tradition, Pentecost is marked with a joyous festive celebration in thanksgiving for the blessings of agricultural bounty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For us Christians, the hallmark of celebrating Pentecost is the commemoration of that event when the Risen Jesus appeared to the apostles who were gripped with fear and deep sense of anguish. With Mary\u2019s presence among them, the Risen Jesus appeared and breathed on them the Holy Spirit. They received the Holy Spirit that launched them into the world to be witnesses of the Risen Lord,\u00a0 to the ends of the earth the Gospel of Salvation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are commissioned for this, too: to make our lives living witnesses of the Good News in our time today. This Pentecost event also marks the birth of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. Let the significance of Pentecost be for us all a profound assurance that the Holy Spirit is with us!
