Year 7 – The Great Aussie Bush Camp, Kincumber
It has certainly been a week of excitement, growth and connection for our Year 7 students as they embarked on their first Camp as High School students. This week, students attended The Great Aussie Bush Camp at Kincumber where they were provided with opportunities to foster and develop their social development and make new connections with peers.
The activities at camp helped students step outside their comfort zones and it was inspiring to see many of them face their fears and conquer them. Whether it was climbing to the top of the giant swing, navigating the rock-climbing wall or simply being away from home for the first time, every student showed immense growth in their confidence and resilience and I am so incredibly proud of them! One of the standout activities was the “Survival Challenge,” where students worked in teams to build shelters and create fire using basic resources. This activity not only tested their practical skills but also fostered a sense of responsibility and self-reliance.
At camp, students had the opportunity to work alongside new peers, forming connections and building relationships with classmates they may not have interacted with before. This experience encouraged them to step outside their usual social groups, collaborate on activities, and develop important teamwork skills. By working together to overcome challenges, students not only learned more about each other but also strengthened their sense of community, making new friendships that will last well beyond the camp experience. Students are to be commended for embracing opportunities to develop their bonds with their peers.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, the parents, for your continued support in making this experience possible. Your encouragement allowed the students to fully engage in the camp’s activities and take full advantage of the opportunity for growth and learning.
We are incredibly proud of how our Year 7 students conducted themselves, showing maturity, enthusiasm, and kindness throughout the camp. The memories and lessons from this adventure will stay with them for years to come. The students had an unforgettable experience filled with teamwork, adventure and personal growth. Year 7 created memories that I’m sure in years to come will be fondly reflected upon. Thank you once again for entrusting us with this special experience, and we look forward to continuing to support your child’s development throughout their time at school.
Special thanks must be given to Mrs Vassallo, Mrs Kshatriya and Miss Intili for their tireless efforts and leadership in making the Camp a memorable experience which ran smoothly. Also thank you to the following teachers for their positive energy, support and assistance throughout the week: Mrs Abi-Khattar, Mrs Xafellis, Mr Tripodi, Mr Louran, Miss O’Regan, Mrs Ho, Mrs Angilletta, Mr Roddie, Mr Souter, Mrs Alamango and Mr Zaccheo.
Year 7, well done for giving your personal best and stepping out of your comfort zone at camp – you’ve shown amazing courage and growth and I am immensely proud of you!
