The “Bear Pit” Public Speaking Competition – NSW Parliament
Well done to Charlotte (Y8) and Makayla (Y9) who ventured into, and confidently emerged from, the “Bear Pit” at NSW Parliament on Monday evening. The nickname, (more than a century old), for the NSW Legislative Assembly Chamber, is colloquially used to describe the sometimes robust debates and exchanges that occur in the chamber.
Both students represented the College with distinction in the Bear Pit Speaking Competition, sponsored by local member and Domremy alumna, Stephanie Di Pasqua MP. Both our young women were a credit to themselves and the College, speaking convincingly about the benefits and dangers of AI, with Charlotte placing third in the competition.
A huge thank you to Ms Di Pasqua for this unique opportunity provided to our students to advance their public speaking skills. It was an unforgettable experience.
