
Teja and Ruby off to the Kenpo 5.0 World Martial Arts Event, Las Vegas
We love to share the achievements and milestones which our young women reach in whatever pursuit(s) they emabark at school, but also outside of school through a variety of extracurricular activities, be they of a sporting nature, the pursuit of a personal passion or a creative or artistic outlet. We are so proud of our hardworking and dedicated students who challenge themelves in so many ways through extracurriculars which help to build their skills, confidence, resilience, discipline and sportsmanship.
We would like to share some exciting news about sisters Ruby (Y9) and Teja (Y7) who started karate in Kindergarten at Kick’s Newington afterschool program run by Jeff Sepakman’s Kenpo 5.0 – Sydney. Ruby is a black belt in the children’s program and a purple belt in the adult’s program and Teja is an advanced 3rd degree brown belt in the children’s program and grading for her black belt in Las Vegas in July.
Both competed in the Kenpo 5.0 Australasian Championships International Karate Tournament on 24 May, performing incredibly well.
Ruby placing 1st in her division for Sparring, came very close to placing in her other events.
Teja placed in multiple events for her division, including:
– 3rd place in Self Defence
– 1st place in Sparring
– 1st place in Forms
– Grand Champion in Forms (Champion of all divisions)
Ruby and Teja will now be competing as part of the tournament team in the Kenpo 5.0 World Martial Arts Event in Las Vegas in July.
