Social Justice in Action
This term we have continued to increase awareness surrounding social justice issues for both Staff and Students. The knitting club continues to grow under the guidance of Ms Atkins. Regular lunch time gatherings on Wednesdays and Fridays ensure that the target to knit and crochet woollen toys for sick children who visit the Sydney Children’s hospital is reached. Thank you to the students who are shining their light, sharing their knowledge and teaching others this valuable skill. This can only happen because of the sizeable donations of wool given during the week. Additionally, Domremy students are working in a partnership with Shalom Centre for Aged Care at Marsfield. They are excited to engage our students in different initiatives, such as preparing gift packages for Father’s Day and care packages for the residents. And, to ensure Domremy is reaching out to support the young as well as the old, students in the Exploring Early Childhood Course are embarking on fundraising for Catholic Care. This year the Gift of Goodness campaign is focused on sending help to our community’s most vulnerable – children.
