Red Room POEM FOREST Poetry entrants
“POEM FOREST is a free nature writing prize that breathes life back into the natural world that sustains us. Created by Red Room Poetry, in partnership with The Australian Botanic Garden, POEM FOREST invites students and teachers to use their words to make a positive climate action. For every nature poem received a tree is planted to help heal habitats and create a POEM FOREST for future generations. In 2021, over 5,000 poem tress were planted. All POEM FOREST Prize entries are published in our digital library and have the chance to win $5,000 in prizes … and more.” (Red Room Poetry)
Year 7 students entered the competition as part of the Year 7 English Unit ‘Poetry, Place and Wellbeing’, which asks students to consider how nature can inspire mindfulness and wellbeing, demonstrating this through their poem writing.
You can read all the fabulous, creative poems by our Year 7 entrants which have been published on the POEM FOREST webpage here. There are so many; very exciting!
The added bonus is that Year 7’s 33 entries = 33 new trees planted! 🌳
Domremy is very proud of all our entrants – Good luck! The POEM FOREST Prize Shortlist will be announced Thursday 27 October and you can register now for Red Room Poetry’s digital Winners Announcement Ceremony at 10am Thursday 17 November.
