Presentation to Y12 – Study Skills and Academic Performance

On Tuesday 3 June, during Pastoral Care session, Year 12 students attended a presentation by Dr Prue Salter, a leading expert in study skills and academic performance. The session was designed to equip students with the tools and strategies they need to succeed in the HSC and beyond.

Dr Salter guided Year 12 students through how to effectively structure their time, including how to design realistic and productive study timetables. She emphasised the importance of prioritising subjects based on individual needs and performance, ensuring time is allocated wisely across all areas of study. The seminar also covered essential study habits, highlighting how lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, exercise, and work-life balance play a significant role in academic success. She provided practical advice on how long students should study each day and how to maintain focus and motivation over the coming months.

We thank Dr Salter for her insightful and inspiring session, it was a timely and helpful reminder of what it takes to make the most of the final stretch towards the HSC. We look forward to welcoming Dr Salter back after our Trial Examinations in August.

Thank you to the College for organising such a wonderful guest speaker.
