“Drawing New Maps of Hope”

An Apostolic Letter for a World in Search of Meaning

Pope Leo XIV’s Drawing New Maps of Hope invites Catholic educators to see their daily work as an act of hope‑building. He reminds staff that hope is not passive optimism but a deliberate, faith‑filled practice expressed through compassion, patience, and the way we accompany young people.

In a school setting, this means shaping environments where dignity, justice, and mercy are lived values. Staff become “map‑makers of hope” through the tone they set, the relationships they nurture, and the courage they show in believing in each student’s potential. The encyclical calls educators to lead with gentleness, integrity, and presence, helping the whole community move toward a future shaped by connection, faith, and possibility.

God of Hope,

You walk with us as we guide young hearts and minds.

Strengthen us when the work feels heavy,

and renew in us the courage to lead

with compassion and clarity.

Help us to draw new maps of hope in our school—

through our words,

our decisions, and our presence.

May we recognise the dignity in

every student and colleague,

and respond with patience, wisdom, and grace.

Fill our community with Your Spirit,

so that together we build a future shaped by

justice, joy, and deep trust in

Your love.

Amen.
