FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD – 2 February
We remember the moment Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple, offering Him to God with trust and gratitude. In that simple act, they showed what it means to place our lives—and the lives of those we love—into God’s hands.
In the Temple, two faithful people, Simeon and Anna, recognised Jesus immediately. They had been waiting, watching, and hoping for God’s promise to be fulfilled. Their joy reminds us that God often arrives quietly, in ordinary moments, when our hearts are open and attentive.
This feast invites us to reflect on three movements:
- Offering – What do we place before God today? Our hopes, our worries, our gifts, our challenges.
- Recognition – Where do we notice God’s presence in our school, our families, our friendships?
- Light – Jesus is the Light of the World. How do we carry that light into the places that need warmth, kindness, and courage?
As we celebrate this feast, we ask for the grace to see as Simeon and Anna saw, to trust as Mary and Joseph trusted, and to shine with the quiet, steady light of Christ.
Loving God,
On this Feast of the Presentation,
we bring ourselves before You with open hearts.
Like Mary and Joseph, help us to offer our lives with trust.
Like Simeon and Anna, help us to recognise Your presence
in the people and moments that cross our path each day.
May the light of Christ guide our choices, comfort our worries,
and inspire us to bring hope to others.
Bless our school community with peace, with gentleness,
and with the courage to shine Your light in our world.
How will you light your lantern?
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
