Pope Leo XIV highlights how migrants and refugees in a special way can become witnesses of hope and tenacity amidst adversity and calls for a future of peace and respect for human dignity, in his Message for the 111th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, released on Friday, July 25. This annual event encourages the faithful to show support and closeness to the millions of people who are forced to leave their homes and places of origin.

A Prayer for Migrants and Refugees

God of compassion, we pray for migrants and refugees forced to flee conflict, persecution, or poverty. Open our hearts to welcome them as your children and honour their dignity.

Bring an end to the violence and injustice that displace so many. Comfort those who have died on the journey.

Help us see your face in each person, offer hospitality, and recognise the gifts they bring. May we work for a world of peace and security for all.

Through Jesus Christ, who was once a refugee.

Amen.
