Open Day 2025 – Thank you!

Open Day 2025 – Thank you!

Our College Open Day, held on Sunday 9 March, was a highly anticipated and successful event that marked the beginning of the school year. It showcased all that Domremy has to offer, made possible by the incredible cooperation of our students and staff, who embody the essence of our vibrant Domremy community.

The day began with a warm and friendly welcome to all parents and guests from our junior and senior tour guides, who led all guests on well structured and informative tours around the Domremy grounds.

As a student guide, I along with my peers, directed our tour groups through various classrooms across the school. From English and Mathematics departments, Religion and faith based programs in the Chapel, Science labs with exciting, immersive experiments, and PDHPE with sport initiatives on offer. Visitors also explored cultural immersion in the languages room, the practical and creative elements from the TAS department, as well as HSIE studies and creative arts through drama, art and music.

Many guests along with my tour group, were impressed by the vast variety of learning, emphasis on skill development and practical work within classrooms. They also appreciated the range of extracurricular initiatives, such as committees and representative teams which encourage students to excel academically while also fostering their physical, creative, and personal growth.

Teachers and students were readily available to answer questions and give detailed insight into their subjects, which reflected our passionate and dedicated commitment to Domremy’s passion and dedication to quality education for all students. The event also highlighted the invaluable role of our Learning Support team, who work tirelessly to ensure that every student receives the guidance and assistance they need to thrive. Their dedication to inclusivity and personalised support reflects the College’s commitment to fostering a learning environment where all students feel empowered and encouraged.

The sense of community within the College was evident within each department, reflecting our values of inclusivity, belonging and collaboration.

I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with my tour groups, sharing my personal experience,  and answering their questions about the College. It was a rewarding opportunity to reflect on my journey and contribute to an event that truly highlights the strengths and spirit of our College.

The presentation in the hall led by myself, Co-Vice Captain Jessica, College Captain Olivia, Year 8 student Siera, Parent Ms Leslie and College Principal Mrs McGahan, was an informative and inspiring assembly that showcased the College as a school committed not only to high-quality education, but also the well-being of students and each person’s interests, passions and success. The parent, senior and junior student perspectives provided valuable first-hand insight to their personal experiences within the Domremy community, and how choosing our College is able to shape the beginning of a successful, fulfilling and memorable high school experience.

Beyond the tours and presentations, the day was enriched by the generosity of our parent volunteers, who ran the BBQ and created a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. Additionally, our talented Hospitality students prepared a selection of delicious finger foods, demonstrating both their skills and the high standard of practical learning at the College.

What an outstanding day to highlight the incredible community that is Domremy College!
