Hospitality and VET studies – Ava selected to join Youth Partnership Council

Year 11 Hospitality student Ava has been selected to join the Youth Partnership Council. The Youth Council involves young stakeholders in decision-making, offering insights that shape values and influence activities related to workplace placement and VET studies. Participating in the Youth Council will give the students a voice and provide opportunities to develop leadership skills and participate in exclusive career development opportunities.

Ava was one of ten students selected across the south-eastern Sydney region.

Extract from Ava’s application:

“Being given this opportunity to be an active member of the Youth Council, I feel as though I can bring new innovations and ideas to light, and help better shape the future of VET work placements and the career opportunities which are available when participating in a VET course. More specifically, through my unwavering passion and interest in the hospitality industry, having this chance to develop my skills and understanding of my future career in discussion and personal perspective from others, will help guide my future career and change the opportunities for others after me. ”

Ava has already attended her first meeting on April 9, with fellow Council members from various schools across Sydney.

Ava will be formally recognised for her contribution at the Annual VET Excellence Awards, which will be held at NSW Parliament House in September.

We are very proud of her achievement.
