From the Principal
Year 12 Blessing
Gracious and caring God, our source of light,
we ask for your almighty hand to be upon these graduates as we send them forward.
With their classes and grading now complete,
may they strive toward excellence in all they do.
With the applause quieted,
may they celebrate and lift up those around them.
With the speeches concluded,
may their voices rise up to pronounce peace and justice in the world.
With the fanfare ceasing,
may they find bliss in future endeavors and adventures.
With potential degrees and credentials in hand,
may their achievements grow and enrich their communities.
As educated in the Presentation Charism,
may they discover Holiness in the midst of life’s blessings as well life’s challenges.
As their careers commence,
may they conduct their life’s work with exceptional skill and integrity
inspired to Go Forth and Set the World of Fire
from this day onward.
Venerable Nano Nagle, Pray for us.
Dear Parents, Carers, Students, Staff and Friends,
As the bell rings to mark the close of the most demanding and rewarding term of our academic year, we can collectively prepare for a deep, much-needed breath. The pace of Term 3 has been relentless, a challenging and fulfilling sprint defined by intense learning, fierce competition, dazzling performances, and the beautiful, constant hum of a vibrant school community at its very best.
To our dedicated students, staff, and parents: I offer my deepest gratitude. Your commitment and determination have been palpable. We have witnessed moments of genuine academic brilliance, great sporting triumphs, and creative endeavours that have filled our halls with light and energy. These achievements are not merely marks or medals; they are the outward symbols of the resilience, courage, and perseverance you have demonstrated every single day.
The central focus of these final weeks has been celebrating the journey of our Year 12 students alongside their families and loved ones. These Graduation events beautifully reflect the strong partnership we are fortunate to have with our families here at Domremy, a connection that shines even brighter during such significant milestones, where we honour not only the immense achievements of our students but also the dedication and love that have carried them through.
For the staff of Domremy, these celebrations hold a special significance. While we applaud the remarkable accomplishments of our Year 12 students, it is also a moment of mixed emotions as we bid farewell to the young women we have had the privilege to nurture and guide over the years. This Year 12 cohort has left a deep and lasting impression. Their leadership, thought-provoking ideas, and generous spirits have truly shaped the College, and their influence will be felt for years to come.
To the parents and carers of our Year 12 students, we offer our deepest gratitude. You have journeyed alongside your daughters, supporting them through every challenge and triumph with unwavering love. Your partnership has been an essential part of helping your daughters grow into the extraordinary young women we celebrate this week.
The commitment demonstrated throughout Term 3 has been immense. Witnessing your resilience and unwavering focus—from successfully navigating major academic assessments to excelling in rigorous co-curricular commitments—is a source of great pride for the entire Domremy community. Your pursuit of excellence in every arena is a credit to our shared mission.
As these young women take their next steps, we encourage our Year 12 students to continue striving for greatness and excellence, guided by the same core values that have shaped their time at Domremy: faith, hope, and love. These divine gifts, deeply rooted in our Presentation charism, offer a foundation for navigating life’s challenges. Like Nano Nagle, who lived with conviction, hope, and love for the betterment of others, we hope our students will continue to make the most of these gifts in their own lives.
The Graduation Mass reflected a sense of unity, marking the end of their journey here at Domremy. Just as explorers reflect on the meaning of their adventures, each of our Year 12 students will carry the experiences they have gathered along the way, shaping their futures in unique and profound ways.
A Call to Rest
We know how acutely tired everyone is after this busy period. This term break is a crucial opportunity for all of us, students, staff, and parents, to genuinely recharge, re-energise and reset. I encourage you to embrace the pause, disconnect from screens and enjoy time with your families. This period of rest is vital to ensure we all return prepared for a focused and successful final term.
As we say farewell to Year 12, we hold them in our thoughts and prayers as they prepare for their HSC examinations next term. We wish them strength, resilience, and confidence, knowing they have all the tools to succeed.
I look forward to seeing the return of our entire community refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 4. School resumes for students on Tuesday, 14 October 2024.
Blessings to you and your families,
Mrs. Antoinette McGahan
